I drove past this between Salida and Cotopaxi on State Highway 50 in Colorado. I had to turn around and tell whoever that I stood with them totally assuming I was correct. I was and got the biggest hug of appreciation for doing so.

From my understanding, there are close to 3000 children being held around this country after being seized from their parents at the border.

Many will never see their Mom and Dad again because Republicans are totally evil.

You bastards!

Alternative Transportation Options

Have long thought it's time to take a look at less expensive options for transportation in this country. Hate to use this term but a peoples car so to speak. It can and could be done and needs to be done because people still need to get places and the less expensive it is for them the better.

No cheap cars are not for everybody nor will they be perfect. And yes there are obstacles in respect to mandated features and insurance issues. My point is that it's time people had more choices for getting from one place to another.

This vehicle below is a Mitsubishi Mighty Mits. 18 years old and still going strong. Comes in different configurations including van style. Very well designed and get super gas mileage. Not all that cheap and at present not available. The motor is running.

Below is the world's cheapest car the Tata Nano. Being made and sold in India and beyond but not here for the obvious reasons. It would set you back 2500 smackers. I'd love to drive this thing-seriously I would.

In 1971 the only new car I ever bought was one of these a Honda 600 Coupe. Drove to Kansas City and it was a done deal for $2006. It was a impressive car and don't let the size fool you as there was ample room inside and got 40 to 50 mpg depending of course how it was driven. 80 was about the top speed. Mine was blue and the mirrors were not like these ugly ones seen here.

Given the technology we have today I'd like to see what somebody could come up with here if they got their mind right and put that mind to work. There's a market out there for vehicles such as this - a big one.

Just saying.

  1. Wow, I remember those Hondas. The brother of one of the girls I went to school with had one.

Subaru had one about the same time that was just a little smaller but got something like 55 mpg.

I think that car from India is pretty cool. I wouldn't mind havin' one, either.

  2. Ford is selling a two cylinder diesel hybrid that gets 60mpg in Europe, but won't bring it here because "Americans don't like diesel cars." They just don't want to piss off the oil industry.

  3. Personally, I think the best transporation alternative except for rural areas is subway and above ground rail.

  4. I always think about these cars until I think of an SUV hitting it head on. Wonder if it takes up as much room as a coffin when buried?

  5. Demeur-you do a header like that in anything and it's not going to be good.

When I had that Honda the things people would say. Kinda like old wife's tales in a way.

I can say this that in a small vehicle it's much easier to avoid things. Small vehicles like this are not meant to play with the big boys and what I'm saying is that these could do what big vehicles do now much of the time with a much smaller footprint.

  6. I've been interested in small fuel effecient vehicles for awhile now. I don't know if you've heard of this yet, but Tata Motors over in India is also going to make a compressed air fueled car. I don't know if it will ever make it to the states, but if it does, or something like it does, I'm getting one!
