I drove past this between Salida and Cotopaxi on State Highway 50 in Colorado. I had to turn around and tell whoever that I stood with them totally assuming I was correct. I was and got the biggest hug of appreciation for doing so.

From my understanding, there are close to 3000 children being held around this country after being seized from their parents at the border.

Many will never see their Mom and Dad again because Republicans are totally evil.

You bastards!

Business Pretty Much As Usual

After the Anita Hill/Clarence Thomas hearings have always said if I was on the stand and was guilty and had to lie to save my ass Arlen Specter was the one guy I wouldn't want asking me the questions.

Tough talker over recent years like he was going take the other side and because his repug buds were being very bad boys. Fact is he never did do that much at all. He basically stuck with them through thick and thin he did. That's what I think without checking for sure.

He says-"my change in party affiliation does not mean that I will be a party-line voter any more for the Democrats that I have been for the Republicans."

He's telling the truth for damn sure here.

It will be business pretty much as usual. Maybe he will make the difference on something very important down the road that we the people need. That would be nice. I'll believe it when it happens. When the hell are that damn Rove and Miers showing up to testify under oath.

Love this saying from West Africa "Any day from now" that would be the response to any number of questions. And it meant just that. It could be the next minute tomorrow or whatever. If it did happen the next day you were very lucky.

If congress could for once pass quality legislation for us instead of against us any time from now and we actually see it happen that would really be something.

  1. Don't count on Arlen Spectator for help. He did this to save his ass and to save BIG COAL in Pennsylvania. He's gonna water down carbon emissions, oppose progressive judges, make sure his country club Repubs don't pay their fair share, it goes on and on. He's stealing a chance for a younger more populist Dem. to step up. But the biggest pisser is he can move his seniority over to the Dem side and try to bump off Harkin on health care and other more progressive Committee heads. Mr. Microphone will be no friend until he gives us the truth behind the Kennedy assination and serves Bush, Cheney, Rove and Rummy to me for dinner on a pike. At least their eyeballs, anyway.

  2. I like Specter as he is tough! However despite what is said, Obama is going to campaign for him and raise money. Obama is going to go for his energy reform and health care soon. I think he can count on Specter who is also interested in both of those. It will be interesting to see.

  3. Principals stake you to a certain values and positions and allow you to not be swayed by the blowing winds of whatever is popular. When you ride the fence you can see both sides and reach over and eat from both sides. There is nothing wrong with this as long as you are consistent. I believe if most politicians operated this way we would be better off. H/T to Mr. Spector.

  4. Energy reform? There is no such thing as clean coal, period. Maybe in 20 years? Sometimes people hold to principle because the facts, history and perspective align to create a word not used enough; insight. Sometimes the world can't wait for fence sitters and their political calculation more acurately described as self-preservation. Obama campaigning for Specter is insightful self-preservation but can the world survive politicians who seem to worry only about saving themselves; I would venture not well or for long but what the fuck do I know.
