Been gone for over two weeks and it's been a blast. I'm now where I grew up and this is the longest time I've been back since I moved away those many years ago. I will just say that it's a different breed of kat around here and that's a fact.
The last time I was here it was different because my last surviving parent was gone.
This time and since I've quit work everyday since life has been different in the sense that now I don't have to "go back" which meant work.
I did not know just how huge this would be for me as I say many times I've never done this before and it's all new to me. For me this feeling has been a huge positive and believe that feeling will remain for a long time.
Next week I will return to the high country. Colorado is my home.

Above and beyond my appreciation for the gorgeous JD 4010 above, which I happen to have a brother to, it just so happens I took a trip to Keokuk, Warsaw, Hamilton, and Navoo too just last week. Also to Lebanon, MO, south of Lake of the Ozarks, and Laura Engles Wilder's final home in Mansfield, MO where she wrote the some of the Little House on the Parie Books from. Also the Hill Billy Auction/Flea Market @ Ruthledge, MO....very entertaining and famous former coon dog & gun trading expo there in it's early days.
ReplyDeleteMy wife's from Keokuk, and we visited with family there....she had to have fish on Friday night @ Meyer's Courtyard...a tradition of sorts. Fun to know that area is home to you, Mr. Infamous One Fly!. We live out in the tulies of Weld County these days, and I check in on your work here from time to time. Love what I see and read! Still, good to be home in Colorado, my favorite place on the planet. Yer Bro, Pullma
Thanks for that Ano!! We ate the Nauvoo Motel and it was the best ever. If you visit here you know I live south of Pueblo. It was just pleasant being along the river.
DeleteThe tractor picture was taken another place but it could have been taken there. You know Warsaw is having its 200th year anniversary this year. The cemetery is something else and never made it back to see it again.
There will be some posts of some kind coming up here and at the picture place.

Fly Boy, time to get back to work. I want to see some pictures of the grotto. Is that 4010 pulling an articulator? Looks like that might be a golf course, but he doesn't have turf tires.

ReplyDeleteI'm a CO native and wouldn't trade this place for anywhere else, but wife's family has the Mississippi River in their veins. Warsaw is a fun place for us, and my wife can't get enough cat fish...me, not so much. Trout is more my style. Why is the cemetary at Warsaw of interest....haven't checked that one out. Wife's sister was married to the mayor there in W. so we've got some other connections going there locally. Picture place??
Drove by the Navoo Motel, but didn't know that was worth a second look. And wasn't it special recently not being too damn hot and humid there? Actually think I could take that location if it was like it was during our visit at least 250d out of 365. Checked out J. Browning's place in historical Navoo. Is Bentonsport on your radar? Very deep backwoods little place on the Des Moines River about 30 some miles SSW back into MO from Keokuk. L8TR, Pullma
It was the whole catfish out of the Mississippi. There's so much history around those parts. Warsaw has been around 200 years. It's fun.
