I drove past this between Salida and Cotopaxi on State Highway 50 in Colorado. I had to turn around and tell whoever that I stood with them totally assuming I was correct. I was and got the biggest hug of appreciation for doing so.

From my understanding, there are close to 3000 children being held around this country after being seized from their parents at the border.

Many will never see their Mom and Dad again because Republicans are totally evil.

You bastards!

Get Your Ammo Fix

It's hard work if you're a gunner. These things don't shoot peas ya know. So many wannabe shooters - too few bullets.

To make sure everyone gets their chance of building their stockpile to protect themselves from all sorts of perceived evils Wallyworld was forced to take the socialist route.

Due to overwhelming demand, Walmart stores across the nation are limiting customers to three boxes of firearm ammunition a day.

X Games Safety?

You're kidding right. Our society loves nothing better than watching endless video's of people being hurt or hurting themselves on purpose.

This fetish demonstrates a culture that has issues. Came up "short on the second of the course's four massive jumps". Tough shit. This is front page billing as well and is just not news.

A society that embraces violence on many levels but you cross a line when you blow away let's say more than a few with a gun. The outrage over mass killings is nationwide. Single doubles and triples not so much.
No linky.

"Feel the fear but do it anyway." Later that night, the 19-year-old New Zealand skier was rushed to a Denver hospital with a fractured back she suffered during practice after coming up short on the second of the course's four massive jumps. That same night, 25-year-old snowmobiler Caleb Moore's condition worsened as a cardiac injury he suffered in a crash Thursday night during the X Games freestyle competition led to a brain complication.

Book'm Saeed

WTF anyway! The religiously insane are incapable of getting it. This is fine by me. To many this idiot is probably some type of martyr.

An American pastor who has been jailed in Iran since September has been sentenced to eight years in prison, the U.S. State Department said Sunday.

When you have the American Center for Law and Justice involved then you know the use of the word insane is on target.

bama And The Dims Talking Climate Change

This is pure BS. Few get it. How long has it been. Nothing will happen. It's another a diversion. A ploy used to divert attention from how deep the pile is we're standing in with the glimmer of hope that good can come for once.

Climate change, it seems, is no longer a dirty phrase for Democrats to disavow. President Barack Obama promised in his second inaugural address to respond to climate change

Kinda like thinking the senate was going to change the filibuster. Never was that going to happen either.

What Killing Two With A Cell Phone Gets You These Days

This is an update to a post on 6/29/13 that now has a resolution. This person was reaching for her cell phone.

The driver of an SUV that was involved in a head-on collision in Louisville that killed a father and his daughter and seriously injured another child was sentenced to one year in jail after accepting a plea deal Friday.

Not sure what's right but this seems a bit light. I just try to be so careful and not do certain things at certain times while driving that hopefully this never happens. People and their damn phones! It gets to be old shit seeing sooo many people with their faces in their phones like most of the time.

Benny The Tweeter

This about sums it up.

Benny, who tweets in nine languages, stressed the potential of social media for the church as it struggles to keep followers and attract new ones amid religious apathy, competition from other churches and scandals that have driven the faithful away.

No linky to nonsense and notice how scandals is at the bottom of the list.

Be very careful out there kiddies when you hear from these robed men that have more than one agenda in mind.

There's No Pass At This Level Of Lying

We're talking the Armstrong. Take the header of this article and there have been similar ones as well. No linky.

Like Lance Armstrong, we are all liars, experts say.

Bull shit! Yes we are all liars in our own way without question but not at this level and not for years and years.

Actually it's like this centrist nonsense from the whores on the Sunday Liar's Club on tb that we all do it.

No we do not! People smell money.

Plus He Was A Monsignor

Higher up in the order of priesthood it makes no difference when it comes to the meth.

A former Connecticut priest who was charged in a federal crystal meth case sold the drug out of his Waterbury apartment, as well as the parking lot of an adult specialty store

This man was "granted a sabbatical" as he got hooked while being a priest. At least he only harmed himself but seriously too - where was his god when he needed him more than ever?

The Armstrong

Another extremely disappointing Texan who makes the minority of all the good ones look bad. Why would anyone care what this person has to say?

Quick Update

I am glad I came back to this country. I like it here in Atenas. You would too probably. I do look at the internets although said I would not. It's warm and people are friendly helpful and smile very easily. I am completely safe and walk most places. Am not at 100% but get along fine and tell someone whenever I go out.

This is a couple video's from this morning in the town square in front of the church. Not that much happens except life. I like the fact the priest greets everyone.

Later, OF

I read this account of what happened to these travelers very recently from Wyoming while in Peru and the bad did not stop for a long time. This is totally bizarre.  LINK

When The Cover Is Closed

Meaning after this is posted will board an airplane for a return to Costa Rica. To a different place and hopefully for a bit longer.

I am going to step way back from blogging here at OTC. Will be back anytime from now. Gonna see how it feels stepping away for awhile. Been at it even before Dubya stole the election. I'm sick of it. Not of blogging but the nonsense.

I don't even want to see headers of any articles for a while and that means not reading the great places I link to. I encourage those who come by to check out the link list on the right. We are not wrong.

Going to try and take decent pictures about what might be interesting in daily life and just put the crazy shit away for a bit.

Right now I plan on hanging out at the Picture Place. Again Stretch will be on guard while I'm gone. There are no colors to be found these days here but that's about to change. When the sun comes up in the morning the greens in CR will be very intense. Tomorrow morning I'll be seeing that green.

Thanks for coming by!!

HOW MUCH

PESHAWAR, Pakistan - Eighteen suspected militants were killed in three separate American drone attacks in Pakistan's South Waziristan on Saturday night, military and government sources told NBC News.

Ya - just how much are you just plain sick of this shit?? They can do the very same to us. Few get it.

Land Prices,The Farm Bill And Drought Does Not Add Up

Meaning adding up for me. The Corn Belt has been dodging drought bullets for the last few years and many got hit last year. Some are worried (not near enough) for obvious reasons -

"We are still concerned about getting the leftovers out of the way from the drought of 2012. At this time we would not anticipate a national corn yield above the trend," said Iowa State University climatologist Elwynn Taylor, who has studied crop production for decades. "Rather, we would expect a fourth consecutive year of below-trend crop, not as far below as in 2012 but still not up to par."

The Farm Bill - most of it anyway was extended till Sept and many don't like it in including the recipients themselves.

But just about everyone hates it. That includes farmers, produce trade organizations, groups that address hunger, dairy farmers, fiscal hawks and environmentalists – all have concerns with the way the bill was shoved awkwardly into the overall fiscal cliff compromise.

Then there is the dynamics of once again the dramatic increase in farm land value. The link below comes from my part of the cornfield and I can tell you for a certainty the average paid of $8,296 for an acre of Iowa farmland is way low. Well above 10K with sales in the middle to high teens and some smaller parcels going over 20K.

Average Iowa farmland value is estimated to be $8,296 per acre, an increase of 23.7 percent from 2011, according to results of the Iowa Land Value Survey conducted in November. This is the third year in a row where values have increased more than 15 percent. The 2012 values are historical peaks.

This is no bullshit and what's interesting as well is that it is not unusual to pay with cash. I'll do the math. There are 640 acres to a section which is a square mile. Land is generally sold in parcels the smallest being an 80 as known. A quarter is 160 acres. 80 acres is not a small area but not much with the bigger operators who farm a section or two or maybe more. So - you get a chance to pick up an 80.

80x15,000 = $1,200,000 Whose got that kind of money just laying around and that's just for 80 acres. Back in '09 or so we thought the jump then from $3,500 or so to 6K plus was very interesting. Now this.

Go to this link below and enter the zip code and see for yourself how much they dislike the farm bill. And I can tell you it's the ones at the top of the list who are paying cash. Farm Subsidy Data Base

I do not see how this can be sustained without crashing eventually combined with the drought aspect and Climate Change as a whole. Seen it several times.  Greed is at work here.

What Were They Thinking?

Don't know where this will go but I don't think it will be good nor should it be. Plus being badges! Plus the badge department denied it initially.

Two Boulder police officers are the subject of both an internal investigation by the police department and a criminal investigation by Colorado Parks and Wildlife after they shot a large bull elk in Mapleton Hill but apparently did not report it to anyone.

Two thoughts - if these two armed men are actually this stupid they should not be allowed to be pulice officers let alone be close to any weapons. Crossing guard?? Doubt that too.

The other is that I think there are quite a few others just like these two out there.

Better Than A # 2

They ran out out of two's and have attached another label befitting of those powerful Taliban heavy hitters. We now blasted into oblivion with drones along with a few others as well  "a senior Taliban figure" ya see.

While the death of Maulvi Nazir was likely to be seen in Washington as affirmation of the necessity of the controversial U.S. drone program  Bullshit!!

Another Year Another Number

These dead are seldom mentioned and the ones that do are few. At least no one died in Afghanistan on Xmas day. 18% of these deaths are by non-hostile means.

If This Was A Win

Credit needs to be given that at least it wasn't the worst deal made by the bama but the fact of the matter we haven't seen anything yet. From the mouth of Boner -

In a statement after the vote, Boehner said, "Now the focus turns to spending. The American people re-elected a Republican majority in the House, and we will use it in 2013 to hold the president accountable for the 'balanced' approach he promised, meaning significant spending cuts and reforms to the entitlement programs that are driving our country deeper and deeper into debt."

The bush tax cuts was a huge issue and the fine print gets lost at time with me but if these cuts were rolled back like was supposed to happen anyway why aren't they crowing about it?

I read the Speaker's quote as a bit threatening. They gave but sure as hell won't be inclined to do so again and in two months we'll be back seeing the same shit and worse.

I'm glad the 2% Social Security payroll cut is gone and of course when they speak of entitlements they mean that primarily and the so called Left can't even say that SS has nothing to do with our national debt plus it's our own money we put in.

As with this bull shit from the same piece -
The relative paucity of spending cuts was a sticking point with many House Republicans. Among other items, the extension of unemployment benefits costs $30 billion, and is not offset by savings elsewhere.

Like with SS we and our employer contribute into this fund. It's our money and does not need to be offset anywhere else. Sheez!

These baggers and repugs along with dims who are close cousins will be back soon and the circus will continue in force. That you can count on!

Text size is all over the place-sorry bout that.

It's Like This

Not a mention about the bush tax cuts.

The sweeping Senate vote exceeded expectations—tea party conservatives like Pat Toomey, R-Pa., and Ron Johnson, R-Wis., backed the measure

I'll go with Harkin -
"No deal is better than a bad deal. And this looks like a very bad deal," said Harkin.

The House is left yet and simply when you get senate baggers and many other members all of a sudden voting yes you should know by now a screwing is imminent.
