This is Bistek al la Mexicana a common dish found many places. There are several places I get this some better than others but all real decent! Kind of a tomato based sauce with generally pretty tender pieces of beef and a fair amount of it. The rice is pretty generic but the frijoles can be something else. This also includes as many fresh made in front of you tortillas you want and brought to you with a smile. Something like this costs around 50-60 pesos or $3. The squeezed as you watch orange juice is 20 and brings the price up a bit but worth it. Nothing in the States I've ever had compares to this not even close plus it'll cost 7-10 smacks. I don't know what I'm going to eat when I return. It will be an adjustment as I do this so much that is go into Puerto Vallarta on the south side and have me a excellent lunch with "real" Mexican food not the slop I get back there. I do not plan on eating out much at all only at maybe three select places. Pricey yes but worth it because it's so good. I threw away so much money last summer eating way overpriced shitty food. Several times the food got thrown away as well. The whole of Mexico is an eating machine I tell you. I'm gonna miss this.

I feel good and and think the higher temps and humidity contributes to that. It's the same every time. After a month or two you realize and say " Hey I feel pretty damn good!"

Just as important I believe the food made fresh with wholesome fresh ingredients as well contributes to that. Get off the bus in town the food smells everywhere make me hungry just like that.

Finally!

Today will go well over 70° and temps are finally going to remain much higher than what it's been. It's 62° at a quarter to 10 and this guy has shorts on. Probably been at least two weeks since the last time. The month of April it probably snowed about six times with at least half measured in inches. In other words it's been fairly cold and as with many others I echo the same sentiment of "it's been a long winter".

Yes it's a much milder winter here and that's comparing to other places in Colorado as well and the snow always goes away - b b b b but it's still winter. Not complaining just say'in the way it is.

I'm happy we are finally at the end. Going for a bike ride and buying me some spray of some kind. I am soooo tired of being accosted by dogs and I'm sick of it. There will be no mercy anymore. Sorry pooch but you will not get a chance to have piece of me.

There has been little to take pictures of and the one below has been done a few times. The colors are fairly vibrant with this shot and it's an iconic logo. The lower right word is a newly added item. In some ways this town of less than 3K is Third World like but that's maybe for another time.

Have a good one everybody!!

  1. Living in a sleepy little town is just right for me! Someone else can have the cities. Love your shot and your lush green yard. I'm still waiting for a green yard!

  2. It's 79 at 3PM and it will hit 80 or more. Feels real good. Not sure how sleepy this place is but it's a different breed of cat that is for sure. The weeds grow much better than grass.

    1. Hey OF, happy summer/late spring. I think that we are there also, it's supposed to be in the 80's on Sunday.

As far as yards go mine is a mess. These last 3+ years of drought have killed mine.. except for the weeds and dandys which will be chem'd this weekend. Will wait the summer/fall out to see if I will re-seed for next year.

Spent a week in San Jose with the boys and daughter in law had a great time. No Cal and especially the coast are calling to me. Not sure I can afford it.

Great pic of your yard, hope things are well.
