I Have A Hard Time Believing This

For years some people thought vaccinations caused autism. Now that notion has been discounted significantly by a series of research studies.

There is a fair amount of information with several links. The studies are cited for this and for that but fail in one respect in my opinion which is why I am very doubtful.

Never once is the word mercury mentioned. It wasn't the vaccines causing autism but the damn mercury that was being used as a preservative.

  1. Another sign that our health system is in crisis. The vaccines are made in single dose containers, but they are more expensive and anything that is required by schools has to be availalble for free. Hence the mercury.

Mercury is also a by-product of coal-fired power plants. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fossil_fuel_power_plant

You missed this one in the sidebar:

Since 2001, with the exception of some influenza (flu) vaccines, thimerosal [mercury] is not used as a preservative in routinely recommended childhood vaccines.

We've actually conducted a laboratory test of the effect of mercury in vaccines. There isn't any. Mercury has been gone for almost eight years now, with no effect on autism rates.

  4. The incidents that hit close to home for me Cujo happened before the mercury was removed.

Science and mathmatics does nor lie but I am still skeptical about there not being a link between the two.

  5. Doesn't matter, One Fly. The mercury was removed, starting a decade or so ago, and there has been no drop in the rate of autism. Whatever it is, it isn't mercury in vaccines. It doesn't matter if the incidents you're referring to happened before or after.

Given how early signs of autism begin appearing in children, I'd be surprised if there was any environmental influence on its appearance beyond prenatal conditions. But that's another argument. The case against mercury in vaccines is settled, and the verdict is that there was no case.
