Hungry Mama Bruin And Her Boo Boo's

Sure as hell aren't any picnic baskets around but the way these guys are chowing down on grass it must not be all that bad. There's just not that much to eat right now. The novelty of seeing bears has worn off a bit but it's still fun to observe these animals for real. What I really want some good pictures of are the resident mooses that come and go as they are very new to the animal scene here.

Speaking of hungry. Ran across this picture and when I took it I was very hungry. I've eaten Chinese chop everywhere I've ever been and this plate of food has to be the best looking I've ever been served anywhere.

But there was a big problem and that is why the picture looks as it does. It had no flavor at all. Nothing did and it was probably the worst Chinese meal I ever had. How in the hell can you have so many different items and a vast array of seasonings at the cooks disposal and come up with a utterly tasteless dish?

Vietnamese is my cuisine of choice for awhile now because it tastes so much better and is more of a lighter fare and most important the Vietnamese restaurants I've been to all have been consistently very good.

  1. Vietnamese is good, but the fresh herbs are very strong. There are quite a few PHO places around here. Me gusta pho, lol

  2. Neat video of the bears, One Fly.

I've never had the opportunity to try Vietnamese food, but that plate sure looks good....now I'm getting hungry.

  3. Looks tasty to me, were you sick that day? Looking at the house in your prior post the obscenity is disrupting the beauty of the area with a house that does not fit in with the scene but ruins it.

  4. Beautiful photo but the reason for the bland taste could be there is no fat either in the form of a sauce or a fatty side meat. All cooks know "fat is flavor". We have wonderful Vietnamese food and the pho is awesome in the winter as a warmer-upper. Try some Thai, too.

  5. I have been on a low fat regimen for years and yes the lack of fat is always mentioned when any food is mentioned that does not have American origins. Looking at the meal and Onefly I wish I could have had that for dinner tonight yet what I did have was equally fat "less". Just takes time (years)to adjust from eating stuff that our parents found attractive and tastey. Different stroke for different folks.

  6. Nothing a giant teaspoon of Chili powder wouldn't cure.
