There will be one - a Afghanistan War Memorial with memory's that will mirror theirs.
STOP THE MADNESS!!
Afghan Air Force jets pass in review during a parade commemorating the 15th anniversary of the Mujahideen victory. This occasion marks the capture of Kabul from the communist regime.
The total irrecoverable personnel losses of the Soviet Armed Forces, frontier, and internal security troops came to 14,453. Soviet Army formations, units, and HQ elements lost 13,833, KGB sub-units lost 572, MVD formations lost 28, and other ministries and departments lost 20 men. During this period 417 servicemen were missing in action or taken prisoner; 119 of these were later freed, of whom 97 returned to the USSR and 22 went to other countries.
What a big contrast between the stunning flowers in the header and the bloody war in your post!
ReplyDeleteNo doubt about that Duta. I would prefer there be feel good stuff for posts so that all could think life in this country is the best ever but that just isn't the case so it ends up like this.
ReplyDeleteNo occupation.
ReplyDeleteNo insurgency.
What is so difficult for the American peeps to understand.
The enemy of my enemy is my enemy.
This has been the rallying call for the region, ever since our invasions, and occupations.
I think this is an old beef with the Soviets taken to its most bizarre degree. Have we considered the possibility that we could yet again fuck up something even worse than the Soviets.
ReplyDeleteThat'll SHOW EM!!!
and the sheep here would bleet for more of the same.
ReplyDeleteit's got to be wilful (perhaps desublimated) ignorance at this point.. the info is just too available... only by distracting ourselves could we avoid the obvious repercussions of our actions....
ReplyDelete"OMG CAN YOU BELIEVE THEY CANCELLED THE HILLS!! ZOMBZOMB!!!!" <--these ppl are the problem, imho... we can't just move em all out.. so how do you educate a populace that won't hear of it? sysiphus would mock us
