Don't know if I ever mentioned that I occasionally work at Bass Pro. You'd be surprised at how many "missionaries" show up in the camping dept...never, camped/hiked/fished/hunted before, never studied the culture of the country they are invading and wanted me to supply them with the tools/supplies they need for their trip. Oooh gosh..where to start???

ReplyDeleteYes, it is very sad and I certainly hope for the best. I love working in the camping department. I'm always especially excited for new campers/hikers. It's such a wonderful adventure, but, do you have any idea how hard it is to even sell a sleeping bag or backpack to a person that doesn't even know the average temperature of the country they're going to? How much hiking will be involved? They're looking at a 15 lb bag, designed for 30 below and going somewhere they may be required to hike for miles??? and you still have the backpack/tent/water/cooking/etc to be thinking about?
