My understanding is that most of those holy relics are the heads, hands, fingers, toes and blood of those saints. While still a curious practice, at best, today ... I'll bet it was a very convincing and impressive ploy two thousand or so years ago. Like all religions that anoint an entity with omnipotence and jealously demand total subservience to it .... Crazy iz az crazy duz .....
And this organization is given credibility. If they could get by with drinking real blood maybe they would. Having to settle for that really cheap ass alter wine is tough.
