Get Your Waders Ready

Rising sea levels pose a far bigger eco threat than previously thought. There is now a major risk that many coastal areas around the world will be inundated by the end of the century because Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets are melting faster than previously estimated

Scientists have missed on this for years. Not that this is not happening but the rate it is occurring.

It's not going to take until 2100 to see this.

Already islands in the Pacific are covered and people have had to move from where they've lived for generation after generation.

You might consider chest high waders rather than hip waders just to be safe.

  1. And the Bush administration and most of the Rethuglicans and radical christian right did everything they could to prevent anything from being done about this world-wide problem.

  2. We don't have time, as a species, to evolve gills, and it's too late to reverse the trend, so you either gotta drown or move to higher ground.

Which is gonna get crowded pretty soon.

And the higher up you get, the less fresh water there is; and arable land.

I am glad I never reproduced...

  3. Take a look at Canada and Siberia, they will be the winners as they warm up and more of that land will become habitable. Maybe people will be able to live in Antarctica year round.
As a species we didn't survive for over a million years by not adapting to our surroundings.
Anyone wanting to build an underwater bubble world?

  4. Nothing has been done and it's too far gone now to bring it back probably. We've seen the good days my friends.

  5. I live in the hills so I will be all right! You caught that Islands are already going under. The Antarctic Ice sheet thus at least the Polar Bear at least, will be gone before you know it.
I wrote a piece on it years ago but even Al Gore was way too generous with how much time we have to act. It is already too late!

  7. Way too late for what? It's too late to save the polar ice caps, maybe, but it can get a lot hotter here. For an example, see the next planet toward the Sun.

As long as we keep adding heat retention to the atmosphere without considering the long term effect, we're eventually going to encounter a problem we can't just adapt around.
