I don't know about where you live but back in Colorado gun people,gun worriers,gun nuts,gun stupids just plain gun anything have several times now commandeered public meetings intended for other purposes and not always in a polite or constructive way.
Yes I have guns. Four of them. Three long guns and one pistol with a few bullets for each. A couple occasionally get shot a few times and generally get put away fairly quickly because I've become a piss poor shot and it can be expensive to do for very long. I like shooting guns always have. It's fun.
The very last thing on this guy's mind is my fucking guns. Never once has the thought of anyone coming to get my guns now or in the future ever entered my mind - ever.
Nor has the thought that of not being able to buy devices that allow more bullets to be shot before needing to add more chapped my ass in any way that I felt so much worry over that I needed to actively participate in a vocal and public disrespectful way in an attempt to even stop discussion on that topic.
What I find interesting is how very far removed as a firearm owner my thoughts on guns are compared to these other people. It borders on the bizarre it really does. And it ain't changing.

Britain's most senior Roman Catholic cleric, Cardinal Keith O'Brien, is stepping down as Archbishop of St Andrews and Edinburgh. It follows allegations - which he contests - of inappropriate behaviour towards priests dating from the 1980s.
A bit of a twist here as he resigned because of allegations of "inappropriate behavior" towards other robes.
What the hell did he do to little boys because it's more than fair to say he probably was involved with them as well.

Social Security And It Seems
One thing for sure is that local offices cannot be reached with a local number anymore. That's pretty much for sure. When I applied I called the local number twice and had a excellent experience. Nation wide it looks. This in itself is a huge negative.
Many have it appears have lost their benefits because of recently found address discrepancies. Two people close by have had this happen.
You can contact the SS Administration by e-mail but you cannot ask or include anything about your situation or account in any form.
The only way to get a hold of them is by phone or in person. Several messages have been left around here for several days with a call back supposedly in less than 24 hrs. Not one has received a call back.
People around the country have to be annoyed I would think. We can do better but of course there are much more imortant items on the agenda of the 1% with the help of the Tpuglicans.

The Defense Dept Will Not Grind To A Halt
Glancing over this piece it makes it appear as though the military and most of what it does will not function.
Bullshit and don't believe it for a second. If some shooting needs to be done you can damn well bet we'll be able to do that and much more as required. You betcha!
I want to see much more of our defense budget shot out the barrels of all the guns we don't need and the money be used here at home. We can adapt.
The nonsense coming down the road will be almost unbearable. Count on that too.
Tanks would not roll, fighter jets would be grounded and aircraft carriers might be stuck dockside. In addition, the Defense’s Department 800,000-member civilian workforce likely would go without paychecks at times. By the end of September, two-thirds of U.S. Army combat troops would be “unacceptable”. I think we’re going to have serious readiness effects. I don’t see where we’re going to get the money. We’re going to have to cut back on training significantly.” “The effects of sequestration on the military will be devastating, but on our civilians, it will be catastrophic,”.

This Close To A Real President Today
The President of Costa Rica Laura Chinchilla came to the new school just up the road from where I stay. She walked up from the street where she then cut the ribbon that I got a piece of by the way and went inside for the rest of the dedication festivities.
I could go all over the place with this but will keep it brief. This was nice to be a part of. I wasn't going inside but this certain man kinda brought me with him. Glad I went. There's a video and soon other pictures at the other place.
This has a lot to say about other countries in the sense of how close I was allowed to get this woman. This is in no way a "Banana Republic" like in the old days. There is so much going on and I have seen very little of CR.
Could have easily stepped up next to her and asked for her sign my piece of the ribbon or gotten a picture but there were others who wanted her attention as it's not often the president of your country comes to your school.
The bottom picture she looked up and gave me a smile.
May she always remain safe. Just to be clear she was walked up to the school with security on either side front and back. When she got up to the school where all the kids and adults were these men made themselves pretty scarce. There are security guys in three of the four pictures.

I find this interesting. I just wonder who they think will engage them in "large-unit" engagements. Although I do not agree with with the majority of this country's budget used for the military I acknowledge we can and should be able to beat anyone out there in open engagements.
Window-rattling shellfire on Fort Carson's training range will be heard more often in the future as the Army shifts its training goals back to large-unit operations with artillery, armor and helicopter support. "Our training is shifting away from counter-insurgency and back into more direct action,"
I occasionally can actually hear explosions from Fort Carson maybe 45 away as the crow flies. Then there is the Pinyon Canyon(and they want much more) training site not too far to the SE. There is a fair amount of military air traffic and vehicles on the interstate going to and from these two places. I do enjoy seeing big planes flying low btw.

1400 applications for 110 shoot at will positions.
More than 1,400 people applied this week to take the test that could earn them positions in the Denver Police Department's first academy classes in four years. But it hopes to hire as many as 110 officers this year.
Of the veterans who applied how many are suffering from mental injuries and will be hired. Just saying.
Then if you do wrong - well you then become pretty special. This is sooo bad!
Denver police officers won't be charged in the 2009 Landau beating case. The decision brought vindication to the officers and disillusionment to Landau, whose federal lawsuit against the city ended in 2011 with a $795,000 settlement, one of the largest payouts in city history to resolve a police-brutality case.
