I drove past this between Salida and Cotopaxi on State Highway 50 in Colorado. I had to turn around and tell whoever that I stood with them totally assuming I was correct. I was and got the biggest hug of appreciation for doing so.

From my understanding, there are close to 3000 children being held around this country after being seized from their parents at the border.

Many will never see their Mom and Dad again because Republicans are totally evil.

You bastards!

3,000,000 Jobs Just Waiting

That's what this says anyway. There may be some truth here but finance and accounting is a no brainer and government even easier. If a monkey could do it why not a human.

People thrown out of shrinking sectors such as construction, finance, and retail lack the skills and training for openings in growing fields including education, accounting, health care, and government.

Then there's this young man graduating this month with a degree in entrepreneurship and minor in business administration. Seems to me he made the perfect choice for these times.

All that I know is there are no jobs here and no amount of training or education is going to change that.

  1. I can only speak for Oregon but here are the facts on the ground: Accting-Minimum 2yrs education, preferrably 4. Education-This is where it falls down on the Teachers' Unions head: 2yrs to get accredited thru the state. This is the hangover from the last severe recession of the early 80's and the power of the OEA in Dem.Party. We also have bad rankings in many schools and a severe case of the haves&havemores vs. the havenots. Obama should crack some heads here. Gov't- We are laying off like crazy because of the economy and expect more cuts. Health Care- A BIG YES here as 3-4 mos of training and cert. lands a $12hr. plus job w/benes plus advancement oppur- tunities upon certification, a key word. Other than that we have lots of educated bar maids, waiters&waitresses, etc. People still move here by the bucketful but that is starting to slow down as a pass to "the promised land" becomes harder to gain. The older guys and gals are starting to leave , disgusted with the wages and high cost-of living.

  2. So, thirty years ago I didn't even know what a grease gun was.
    Someone had to teach me.
I have since gone out of my way to teach anyone who wanted to learn, including a tiny young lady . When we were done, she was yarding dashboards out of Lincoln Town Cars

Then again, I have tried to educate two hundred fifty pound young men that were too fucking stupid to figure out what a Phillips screwdriver was.

Get 'em an entry job and weed 'em out from there.
I busted my ass moving cars so I could degrease and squeegee an entire dealership shop on a Saturday when I was 30 years old after I had been wrenching for over ten years.

In this economy, if ya get a chance , work yer ass off.

Two generations of youngsters have already gone through since then.

  3. Bustedknuckles is right when he says get em a job. As far as I know all you need to wrench on cars is the willpower and the money to pay for a business license; even working out of your own garage at home is ok in certain states. Why just the other day I experienced this "entrepenurial" spirit of America first hand. I started by dropping off my 4yr old daughter at a private home of a daycare provider I found in the phone book. She and her son seemed nice enough but I wish they or the state had told me he was a registered sex offender. My next stop was to see my accountant, aka Louie "Funnynumbers" Fraschetta, who along with being the precinct captain in my neighborhood also collected my taxes, passed out building permits, etc. He was a private subcontractor whose degree came from the Corleone Institute in Naples, Italy. I can't say this enough; "what a great guy to have on your side." After lunch met my wife, a former hair dresser, during her break from teaching the ABC's Of Astrophysics To Section 8 children. She got her dual degrees from Education Cuts-R-Us&More. At last got to my job with the Federal Gov't where for the next 12 hours I'll oversee 30 employees as they try to separate fly shit from pepper. After that I'll just go home and hit the books because I want to be a commercial pilot and really be able to affect peoples lives.
