This is Bistek al la Mexicana a common dish found many places. There are several places I get this some better than others but all real decent! Kind of a tomato based sauce with generally pretty tender pieces of beef and a fair amount of it. The rice is pretty generic but the frijoles can be something else. This also includes as many fresh made in front of you tortillas you want and brought to you with a smile. Something like this costs around 50-60 pesos or $3. The squeezed as you watch orange juice is 20 and brings the price up a bit but worth it. Nothing in the States I've ever had compares to this not even close plus it'll cost 7-10 smacks. I don't know what I'm going to eat when I return. It will be an adjustment as I do this so much that is go into Puerto Vallarta on the south side and have me a excellent lunch with "real" Mexican food not the slop I get back there. I do not plan on eating out much at all only at maybe three select places. Pricey yes but worth it because it's so good. I threw away so much money last summer eating way overpriced shitty food. Several times the food got thrown away as well. The whole of Mexico is an eating machine I tell you. I'm gonna miss this.

I feel good and and think the higher temps and humidity contributes to that. It's the same every time. After a month or two you realize and say " Hey I feel pretty damn good!"

Just as important I believe the food made fresh with wholesome fresh ingredients as well contributes to that. Get off the bus in town the food smells everywhere make me hungry just like that.

Part Of The Reason The Pile Is SOOOO High

Because this is the kinda shit that leads off our news almost everywhere and in all forms.

Who should be blamed Justin Simple Twit Bleiber's exploits?? Damn straight there's no linky!

This is what the sheep want.

Meanwhile the price of propane back in the cornfield hit $5 a gallon yesterday. Last year at this time it was $1.39.  LINK

When I filled up about a month ago I paid $2.35 and the next day it was 2.50. Who know what it may be now and understand I live in one of the poorest counties in our nation. Back in Iowa there are literally billions floating around.

In addition with the latest increase in electric rates starting this month based on my usage for 12/13  it breaks down to this -

A 30% increase and a killowatt per hour rate of 25 cents per KWH.
That's a fact and the kwh rate has got to be one of the highest in this country! And nobody gave a shit. Got shown the door at the local paper when I asked them to report what the true increase was to be rather than trumpeting the corporate line given to them and printed more than once of an increase of 9%. Was told "I'll print the same thing again. I'm here to make money."

I really don't give much of a shit anymore. Can't win even a little battle let alone one on the national front. If you care and try for some the beat downs can become a negative in your life.

  1. Love your header. What a fun place!!! Too bad about the lack of zoom. I love zoom. Yep! People are more interested in Bieber sagas than real life.

  2. Your earlier comment concerning "Fish Wrappers" describes your local tabloid to a 'T'. Of course ... if you had the assets of Rupert Scrooge McMurdoch ... they'd print whatever you told them to print ... much as they do when Murdoch barks.
I'm trying very hard over here to ... as the song goes .... to 'Accentuate the Positive and Eliminate the Negative'. S'extremely difficult at times ... specially if I try to keep up with Justin Beiber's goings-on .....
Love the header, dood! Bottomless? hmmmm

    1. The shapes of the lakes under the water is very odd in that they are a bit pointy and the points go rather deep.

  6. Propane is 4.50 a gal. here. The math tells me that it's criminal. No good on lens. Thanks!

  7. I burn wood and pellets, both of which the government here is trying hard to outlaw. They want the air emissions low enough that they can build thousands more shitty little houses for people who don't know better than to buy them, and of course all those new people will be electric and gas customers. I understand greed, but I can't understand why government and business think that bleeding people dry is going to be good for them in the long run. Does the 1% need our money to build themselves a space ship to escape this place?
