New jobless claims jumped far more than expected last week. The number of laid-off workers seeking jobless benefits rose last week to a seasonally adjusted 626,000, from the previous week's upwardly revised figure of 591,000. The latest total is far more than analysts' expectations of 583,000.
The predictors miss all the time that's a given. What I want to know is where in the hell are the numbers on the national unemployment rate for January??
It went from 6.7% to 7.2% in December again more than predicted. I thought the national figures came out close to the start of the following month.
