Me too. I went for a four mile walk and saw nothing except a few small birds in the bushes. I think while in CR the focus will be photography and just plain daily life and not much else.

ReplyDeleteYou cannot win a counter-insurgency war (Now the Brits managed to quell one in Malaya in th 50's). It is all about hearts and minds - and like Vietnam we aren't doing a good job of that.
Ho Chi Mihn ran the French out of IndoChina then we came along and in the eyes of the Vietnamese became the new French. Bin Laden and the Mujahideen/Taliban (with our help) ran the Russians out of Afghanistan. Along came us and we became the new Russins in the Afghan people's eyes.
It is past time to toss Karzai the keyes and see the last GI walk up the ramp to that C-17 bound for Ramstein and home.
