I drove past this between Salida and Cotopaxi on State Highway 50 in Colorado. I had to turn around and tell whoever that I stood with them totally assuming I was correct. I was and got the biggest hug of appreciation for doing so.

From my understanding, there are close to 3000 children being held around this country after being seized from their parents at the border.

Many will never see their Mom and Dad again because Republicans are totally evil.

You bastards!

A Good Thing Happened

Riverbend the Iraqi girl blogger survived along with her family the killing fields of Iraq. After years she made a post with an update.

Cujo saw this and wrote about it as he was a fan of hers as well.

Here at OTC we kept the light on all that time for this young women and it was a good day when I learned that she was alive.

An amazing blogger who wrote of what life was like and what it became for her and all other Iraqi's after the neo-cons invaded their country on a pack of lies.

Baghdad Burning's Fifth Anniversary

10/22/12 - Last year I forgot this and after reading the first paragraph again of this young woman's last post as what she said has become even more important - well because it was Syria her family fled to along with hundreds of thousand other Iraqi families as well. The paragraph -
Syria is a beautiful country- at least I think it is. I say “I think” because while I perceive it to be beautiful, I sometimes wonder if I mistake safety, security and normalcy for ‘beauty’. In so many ways, Damascus is like Baghdad before the war- bustling streets, occasional traffic jams, markets seemingly always full of shoppers… And in so many ways it’s different. The buildings are higher, the streets are generally narrower and there’s a mountain, Qasiyoun, that looms in the distance.

We all know what Syria is like now. I do not think this girl made it nor her family. If she has this is one person I would very much like to meet. Amazing stories and insight this young lady had. What this country has done to literally millions around the globe is beyond despicable. They are crimes against humanity and I will always want those responsible to be held accountable!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The third year has gone by and the message remains the same and the light will stay on in the hopes this young lady and her family survived what our country did to theirs. I want to hear the rest of her story and as long as this blog exists this will be the post for October 22.

A post from a year ago with the same feeling as then maybe more. And the light will remain on for another year.

One year ago today was Riverbend's last post. Many of you have read her posts I'm sure and I for one looked forward to every new one. As things deteriorated in Iraq her postings became less frequent and her family made the decision to leave Iraq for Syria.

I learned so much from this young women things you wouldn't find anywhere else. A perspective of life in Iraq that was so very negatively affected by our invasion that was close to normal before our intervention even with Saddam at the helm.

Just wanted to acknowledge this date. The light and the link stays on in the hopes that she is okay and that the next time I visit there will be a new post. That would make it a good day if that happened and hope very much it does.

This Is Good News

UPDATE 10:48AM
An error has been made.  This link about the book and Riverbend is what came up on Cujo's page this morning but the post is from 9/07. I was also unaware there was a book written.

I will leave this as there is still much that can be learned and  plead cornfield for this major mistake. Sorry bout that.

Here at OTC we have kept the light on for three years hoping for the return of Riverbend the Iraqi girl blogger. It appears that may have happened, From Cujo over at Slobber & Spittle who has this covered. I will read this book.

Although her post are old there is still much that can be learned about war for lies and what that and occupation by our country of another does to the people who live there.

Differences

So Dusty makes this post about having to put down one of her cats. It was sad. OTC wrote about Riverbend and the fact it had been two years since she had posted anything.

A friend comments on a Buick driven by an elderly person taking the lives of two of his friends who were on a motorcycle.

A friend I will see this weekend told me he was going to say goodbye to a longtime friend of his who is dying of cancer.

Rude Kitty
has been explaining about the people who are on the other side and just how fucked up they are in simple and easy to understand terms even one of those dumb fuckers could understand.

So what's this got to do with anything? Who knows this might be a stretch but here goes and I'm going to try to be half ass decent about it. It will be difficult.

Say you were one of those other people who choose to believe other things than I do and we all know who you are and I read a similar story about you having to put down a cat. I feel bad about the cat but you can go fuck yourself because it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. That's just kind of the way I feel.

So why is there sadness with Dusty's cat story and not yours? It's easy and it goes to the root of why we are right and you dumb fucks on the other side are just that dumb fucks.

I know for a fact that Dusty, myself, rude kitty and every other blogger, progressive or person from the left actually care about other life rather than just pet life. We actually put a value on human life. Like the ones lost just by accident alone in the three wars we are in at this time. You know the innocents-oh that's right you wouldn't know that because you're a dumb fucker and just real damn proud of it too.

Something else too inbred. I don't know how many but it seems to me a fairly substantial number of bloggers that I read turn out to be atheists. Imagine fucking that! Can you spell hypocrisy? Oh sorry that's right you're not too good at that are you?

Your stupidity allows you to be led by the nose of the corporate whore media given credibility when the truth of the matter your opinion has as much merit as a dried up Limbaugh turd.

I care more about friends who think like me than the others. That sounds so bad but when the stupid -the bat shit crazy-the jeebus crazy are factored in this becomes something other and I think it human nature for some and that includes me to back far away from these people. This is driving our country apart but I want nothing to do with them.

Baby Presents

An issue not discussed much these days deserves some time. A mailing from Dahr Jamail presents evidence of the results of the use of Depleted Uranium in Fallugah.

From the article
number of deaths among children, have risen after "special weaponry" was used in the two massive bombing campaigns in Fallujah in 2004

depleted uranium (DU) munitions, which contain low-level radioactive waste, were used heavily in Fallujah

The Pentagon admits to having used 1,200 tonnes of DU in Iraq thus far
OTC will spell Fallujah Falloojeh out of respect for Riverbend. When I saw this spelling the first time I liked it and looked forward to and learned much about Iraq from her. Where is this young women and is she alive?

Falloojeh was and is a major happening in Iraq. DU was discussed a bit back then but aside from all else that was done to the city and the residents in Falloojeh it has been documented other banned weapons were used. One of which was white phosphorous. The story of this city is one giant fucking nightmare.

One place DU was talked about was on Democracy Now and I was able to go back in their archives and include an interview with Dr. Asaf Durakovic the man who blew the lid on the horrors of DU. I love this line he used "it's mathematics and numbers don't lie " or something close to that. I have not watched it yet but have always remembered it as being ever so compelling. Done 1/30/03 the interview starts just before 30 min.

In any case this shit has been and will continue to come home to roost damn near for fucking ever and wanted to bring it up because it cannot be forgotten for too long at a time.

Interesting post from Riverbend

This is not town related never the less it is interesting because it is from a perspective not often heard. Many who read her posts thought her dead several times. Note that her site is on E-Blogger as is this one. Here is an excerpt and the link below that.

There are an estimated 1.5 MILLION Iraqi refugees in Syria alone. Since the fall of Hussein in 2003 only 833 Iraqis have been permitted asylum in the US, and we will fall far short of our promised 7,000 entries for this year.
