I drove past this between Salida and Cotopaxi on State Highway 50 in Colorado. I had to turn around and tell whoever that I stood with them totally assuming I was correct. I was and got the biggest hug of appreciation for doing so.

From my understanding, there are close to 3000 children being held around this country after being seized from their parents at the border.

Many will never see their Mom and Dad again because Republicans are totally evil.

You bastards!

One Fly Haz Fish

Have not really fished this year and a lot of it has to do with high and dangerous water. But I did a bit today and got a couple and it was fun. This is what it's like in the high country in June here in NW Colorado.

  1. I'm not use to seein' that white stuff on the ground this late in the year. Beautiful country though. I bet that stream is great for fishing once the flow tapers off some.

  2. It's a great place and comes alive with wild flowers.

Was over at your place Ed and it seems you didn't get that job. I remember the times I thought I had got the job and needed it so badly and then feeling devistated when it didn't happen. Just didn't know what to say. I'll be thinking about you. Later, friend.

  5. My husband says... nice fish :)

Congratulations. I haven't been fishing yet. It's been a really wet Spring here in Pennsylvania.

The stream looks beautiful. I was amazed by the snow on the ground.

    Catch and Release... yeah?

  6. Yes friends that is snow. Just went to the google and this is at 9,500'. Skunk cabbage is 6" tall-down here is 3' some places.

That is where I got it Jim and yes Cat's catch and release only and get rid of the barbs as well.

This place is quite a distance compared to where I lived before. I will go back and get some good stuff because it is so pretty up there. Come back and take a look and I will put a picture up one that I like a lot.

All it's been doing is raining and I'm so ready for warm dry weather. Fished the river right behind here and it's still way too high. Fish don't like that.

    Thanks for visiting

  7. Yeah, the fish don't bite when the water is too fast and too high. The bugs don't hatch in those conditions.

    No barbs here either.

  8. About 1940, my (eventual) dad and a friend of his were fishing in waders in the Rio Grande just above where it comes out of the canyon at Velarde. His pal stepped into a sink hole and they found his body a couple days later by a bridge, about 20 miles downstream.

Pop pretty much always told that story whenever we would pass that part of the river, which wasn't often, but regularly enough that it was memorable...

  9. This guy isn't getting in fast or deep water no way no how. In fact Woody a women fell into a creek above where I work and no body after two days. It can happen so fast. I quit fishing one place because for me getting a bit clumsy it was too dangerous to go alone.
