This is Bistek al la Mexicana a common dish found many places. There are several places I get this some better than others but all real decent! Kind of a tomato based sauce with generally pretty tender pieces of beef and a fair amount of it. The rice is pretty generic but the frijoles can be something else. This also includes as many fresh made in front of you tortillas you want and brought to you with a smile. Something like this costs around 50-60 pesos or $3. The squeezed as you watch orange juice is 20 and brings the price up a bit but worth it. Nothing in the States I've ever had compares to this not even close plus it'll cost 7-10 smacks. I don't know what I'm going to eat when I return. It will be an adjustment as I do this so much that is go into Puerto Vallarta on the south side and have me a excellent lunch with "real" Mexican food not the slop I get back there. I do not plan on eating out much at all only at maybe three select places. Pricey yes but worth it because it's so good. I threw away so much money last summer eating way overpriced shitty food. Several times the food got thrown away as well. The whole of Mexico is an eating machine I tell you. I'm gonna miss this.

I feel good and and think the higher temps and humidity contributes to that. It's the same every time. After a month or two you realize and say " Hey I feel pretty damn good!"

Just as important I believe the food made fresh with wholesome fresh ingredients as well contributes to that. Get off the bus in town the food smells everywhere make me hungry just like that.

Why The Democrats Enable this Madness

Chances Are Good

Most sites that I visit and the links within them to blogs contain intelligent thoughtful material. It's more than fair to state all of us know the story of this administration. We are informed and aware. There will be just one story used as example here.

Simply it concerns how the information that led to Spitzer was acquired. A trolling expedition.

This administration has done what ever it wants because it can many times enabled by those who are supposed to be on my side your side our country's side.

Common sense tells me the total lack of accountability or over site particularly when it stretches into years worth does not add up or make sense not even a little bit.

The example I will use out of what must be thousands by now is Valarie Plame. This may be the worst case of treason in the history of this country combined with the fact she worked on WMD's in the region that includes the country that we invaded and now occupy on lies. It's like it never happened. It is the same for all the other story's as well. It cannot be added up and does not make sense.

What does makes sense to me is the following as they have all the tools at their disposal to accomplish such a task.

Simply put-I firmly believe they have used these tools and will use the term blackmailed many key people in government and whoever or whatever they feel is a threat to them. When lies from them kill so many common sense tells me that same threat is being used along with much else and that is why we are in the state we are. That is the one thing that does add up. Look the fuck out!

  2. I'm not into conspiracy theories, but I've wondered about this possibility. It's certainly possible. That's one of the main reasons I was so concerned about the new FISA bill. It gives whoever runs the NSA the power to find out whatever is available over the Internet or the phones about anyone who is a problem for them. It's an invitation to just such abuses of power as the ones you're discussing.

Still, I've seen enough behavior on other issues there to convince me that what we see in DC may have as much to do with the isolation and sense of entitlement of many in Congress. The Democrats in DC are more like Republicans in DC than they are like Democrats in the rest of the country.

Thanks to how badly damaged the Republicans' reputation is, some new Democrats, like Webb and Carney, are folks who were, or should have been, Republicans. That's served to make Democrats a bit more reactionary than they might otherwise be.

They might not be all that comforting, but there are alternative explanations.

  3. Yes. I believe blackmail is common and widely used by the government. But one ingredient of the Washington mess that hasn't been mentioned as needing removal is the countless government employees put in place or promoted into positions of responsibility only because they actively support the policies of the Decider. These will be in place long after Bush and his immediate political yes-men are long gone from office.
Think of all the department heads who back Bush - and think of all the people they hired or promoted within the agencies and departments of our government, again only because they support Bush's right-wing beliefs.
These fascist bastards will be screwing us over for a damn long time - continuing to enable government to undermine and ignore our constitution all the while giving corporations a free ride at our expense.
Agency and Department heads may be replaced, but Federal employees are extremely difficult to remove from the payroll.
Perhaps more difficult than changing Presidents.

  4. Seriously guys this system is so corrupted and those in DC so far out of touch with reality no matter what happens in Nov whether these people are being pressured or not to think there will be any meaningful change is doubtful at best. I'll believe it when it happens. I'm tired of this shitty attitude and outlook and look forward to talkng about positive progressive changes that have been legislated.
