I drove past this between Salida and Cotopaxi on State Highway 50 in Colorado. I had to turn around and tell whoever that I stood with them totally assuming I was correct. I was and got the biggest hug of appreciation for doing so.

From my understanding, there are close to 3000 children being held around this country after being seized from their parents at the border.

Many will never see their Mom and Dad again because Republicans are totally evil.

You bastards!

Horsey's Back On The Table?

The reason horses have not been butchered here since 2007 is because congress eliminated any funding for inspection. That has changed.

Now they didn't allocate any money for inspections but -

"The USDA issued a statement Tuesday saying there are no slaughterhouses in the U.S. that butcher horses for human consumption now, but if one were to open, it would conduct inspections to make sure federal laws were being followed.

WTF anyway! This gets to be old shit. There's much worry in the horsey world. "if you acquire a horse, you should be a responsible owner and provide lifetime care."

You go ahead and do that and it's real special that you are able to care for your animals so well. But you're no different than these religious assholes wanting to dictate to me what is going to be right or wrong. It's the same. Don't tell me I can't eat horse if I want. Pure bull shit. Never have but don't make it a crime if I do want to taste it. Sheez!

There's two here. They're real nice. I feed them at times and pet them. They are not mine and I do not want to own any. Could I eat these?? Cody is a bit younger than Slipknot and it looks like he's capable of putting a pretty decent steak on the table. Do I want to butcher one. No but I could if needed. Fyi cat tastes real real good too and that does not make me a bad person. Will I chop this really nice grey one that showed up here and been feeding? No but if hunger would enter the picture it would be her before Cody.

It's human nature and I understand that but our society cares more about their animals than human beings that are so negatively affected by this country's actions around the globe. We are not allowed to see the death and destruction the real essence of butchering animals or the aftermath of blown apart butchered humans in our name.

If we did this country's position on war and positions taken on human life and animal life would change for the better.

  1. Horse meat was used primarily for pet food here in the US, but there are places where it is used as human food. It's just meat, in the end. The primary problem with horse meat is that it's rather stringy and gamey, so about all it's good for is as a flavoring meat in stews. But there was many an old-time prospector who ended up eating Old Dobbin when Old Dobbin got to be too old to deal with the wilderness... it's only in modern times that we've gotten sentimental about critters, for most of the existence of this world the only sentiment about critters was how useful they were, and if not useful, what the best way to cook them would be.

  2. That sums things up quite nicely there Penguin. Many will not touch elk and other like type animals. I like very much the distinct flavors different animals have very much so. That does not mean I would like horse. Gamey has never been in my vocabulary nor has fishy. I like the smell of fresh cooked fish and of course the taste more. I don't want any of these meats doctored up to disguise it's real flavor. Now I'm hungry and stringy or not I'd give some a try right now.

  3. One thing you may not know is that when butchering horses was legal and the price of horsemeat was high, horses were routinely stolen. My area was hit hard, it was not a good time.

  4. I don't see this happening actually. There are many rich people who have a lot of the horses and if the meat was expensive only they can afford it and they're not going to eat their horses. People will never start eating horse anytime soon here.

My mind set was more on the human consumption of these animals. I sure as hell don't want to see them ground up and fed back to them like the other meat industry's do.

  8. President Pootie Tang campaigned pledging to protect horses and stop horse slaughter.

    Said Pootie Tang:

"Federal policy towards animals should respect the dignity of animals and their rightful place as cohabitants of our environment. We should strive to protect animals and their habitats and prevent animal cruelty, exploitation and neglect. I have consistently been a champion of animal-friendly legislation and policy and would continue to be so once elected."

He announced he had co-sponsored legislation to stop the sale for slaughter of wild free-roaming horses and burros.

During the 2008 campaign he signed on as co-sponsor to the bill to ban horse slaughter for human consumption.

When asked specifically during the campaign, "Will you support legislation to institute a permanent ban on horse slaughter and exports of horses for human consumption", Pootie Tang replied with an unqualified "Yes".

But alas, the lying son-of-a-bitch must've received a good chunk of change to abandon these beautiful and magnificent animals.

I am done with Obama. Done. I plan to stay home on Nov. 6, 2012 and watch a movie. I will not reward this piece of shit with another term.

  9. Christopher, three words that might change your mind:

    President Newt Gingrich.

You think Obama is a shifty two-timing SOB, fine. But Newt the Lizard Grinch is friggin' EVIL. Just sayin'.

  10. BadTux,

Four numbers that might help you see where I'm coming from:

2016. NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo will run for president making Newt a one-termer.

  11. I'm not sure why all the sentiment. If you've raised horses, then you know that they are about as stupid as cattle are. I've had exceptional cattle, and I am sure that people have had exceptional horses, but in general, not a whole lot of difference in them. Opposition to eating horse meat makes no sense coming from someone who eats a hamburger.

  12. How many people remember that "putting on the dog" comes from a time when the skins of dogs were used to make high-end shoes?

Not that people raised dogs for shoe leather, but when ol' Sparky had to be put down, he would have been recycled.

  13. What I meant was, when the price of horse meat was high, low lifes went around stealing horses out of our pastures, took them to the killers and kept the MONEY. There were all sorts of regulations about ownership that the killers routinely ignored.

  14. Reagan: ketchup is a vegetable.
Obama: Sea Biscuit is a burger.

In America in 2011, 80% of people hold eating horse meat to be taboo.

    I am with the 80%.

The reality of Obama's terrible decision to sign this bill sinks under examination.

Since 80% of Americans wouldn't think of consuming horse meat, this means horses will be slaughtered to satisfy the eating habits of the Communist Chinese, the Japanese, the Italians and Uruguayans -- all of whom enjoy eating horse meat.

With the ban on horse slaughtering lifted thanks to Barry the Clown, I expect to see a return of horse theft.

Is this a great country or what?
