Ran across this ornery fellow that has prompted this post. His site and this one are similar as to the number of hits they take and to the content. He is pretty damn ornery though so don't be offended. Have linked to that because I appreciate how in no uncertain terms the way he expresses his outrage plus it's funny. Links in the local paper generate many hits but no more than a couple from Oak Creek it's self. Of the last 100 visitors 2 of 17 from here spent 8min. A few visitors actually spend an hour or two. The average is 7min.
A comment about this site mentioned "propaganda" which is interesting. Itch so bad to get ornery! The worst here was "sacless bastards" because it happens to be true. Of course whores because that's true too. Posts on the town are informational only. It's the Internet and Blogging. Didn't understand the magnitude of this initially but that has changed. For monkeys even though all the bananas in the world would not change your mind Al Gore did not invent the Internet! If one chooses to visit this site there is actually quite a bit of information on the town of Oak Creek.
What is important is not what's on this piss ant site that takes13 hits a day but what's going to be on. The FCC this afternoon voted for more media consolidation against the pleas of all as there was no one who voiced approval for more consolidation. This is so the propaganda monkeys can get theirs. The kind that took us to war on lies when the truth of the matter was the only truth at that time was on the Internet and a handful of programming that media giants don't include. Why did this happen? Because Chairman Kevin Martin is a little neocon whore along with the other two who voted with him. Net Neutrality has taken a back burner and you can bet your life the battle for who controls the Internet will be rejoined? Progress Now Roots Camp
Last weekend (12/1) for two full days I attended this event organized by ProgressNow. Met many like minded Progressive people and was impressed by each and every one. The staff was great. Here's Alan Franklin the IT manager. Bobby Clark the Deputy Director. Brittney Wilburn the Outreach Director and there are others. Another clip that aired on Fox 31 about bloggers and the upcoming DNC convention and the role ProgressNow will play.
I was impressed by the passion of all and their knowledge of the issues. ProgressNow is a player for sure and in the future will continue to make positive Progressive change in Colorado and beyond. I encourage everyone to participate whether it's with this group or another.

Thanksgiving Trip

Just don't what to say about this trip. So many empty school buildings with some districts struggling. Have to say there was just not much bitching. That could be a first. I did see a few pigs but only in one spot. An acre of land continues to sell for 5-6k an acre. If you want to buy a new combine from John Deere you can order it but you won't get it until '09 and it will probably be the same for tractors. Already the record harvest corn crop is mostly spoken for and and what has traditionally been the case of export for food (hunger) will not be happening.
In these two buildings there are plenty of pigs probably about 4-5000 of them.It was so cold and windy this was hard to do

This is the bridge over the Missouri River that one enters the hinterland.
Most all the crops are in but a few are still out.
There are rolls of corn stalks every where you look. Some places are using them as wind breaks. These are used for cattle feed but in the future this will also be used for bio-fuel.I poke fun at the state and the people that live here but I can say the visit today from the county hospital in respect to in-home services for my Father was very professional and just as helpful.
I have kept close to home and have heard rumors of the main topics of the bitching. Will find out what exactly they are soon. I guess there is one I've heard which is the old stand-by of "we aren't making any money". I do know these operators can cash rent at $230 an acre get an average crop and still do well. Beans are at $10 and corn a bit over $4 a bushel. Still have not seen a pig. TB

Today I am leaving and driving to a place that has massive amounts of corn,pigs,cattle,religion,ethanol plants and at this time presidential politics. The issue of politics will center around bitching about the number of various solicitations people receive from all the candidates. There will be other bitching going on too that’s a given. Farmers bitch that just the way it is. What is Exaflood
This is very interesting in respect to the numbers involved and the dramatic rate of growth. It only names the major players not the small providers such as we use in Oak Creek. There is an ongoing attempt by corporations to gain control over access to the Internet. This is called "Net Neutrality" which would create a two-tiered system which unless one payed their ability to access the Internet would be severely restricted. The Internet was created to give all people any where in the world just that-equal access.

Last weekend, Australian Labor leader Kevin Rudd defeated staunch Bush ally Prime Minister John Howard, handing the conservative party its “worst election defeat in its 63-year history” and ending 12 years of conservative rule. Howard “suffered the additional ignominy of losing his own constituency seat,” the first time since 1929 that an Australian prime minister has been voted out of parliament.
Howard’s fate is similar to the story of many other Bush-friendly world leaders. After joining Bush’s Coalition of the Willing in 2003, several countries’ leaders have been ousted from office. In fact, of the original 49 countries who joined the Coalition, the AP reports that roughly 20 remain, with several in the process of withdrawing troops.
ThinkProgress has compiled a new report, highlighting the fate of world leaders from “coalition of the willing” countries who sent troops to support the invasion. At Least 430 Iraq, Afghanistan Veterans Have Committed Suicide:
According to the VA, at least 283 combat veterans who left the military between the start of the war in Afghanistan on October 7, 2001 and the end of 2005 took their own lives. In addition, 147 troops have killed themselves in Iraq and Afghanistan since the wars began bringing the government count to 430.
