Yesterday at this time the first thing I saw was that a friend had suddenly died at a young age. It turns out from an article this morning it was a blood clot. Not super close but still someone I considered a friend.
A bit later I called another friend who was very tight with this person. In recent weeks we had several conversations about his elderly parents and the issue they and his family were facing something I just went through. He told me his father had fallen and hit his head. He was on a plane in the afternoon headed back to probably take his father off of life support. Sunday was a very bad day for him.
Today and particularly tomorrow I will be making a major change in my life by moving from here. I am looking forward to it and am excited. I feel so fortunate that I have control over what I do that I still have my health and that I am able to perform most any task without difficulty.
I also understand all that can come to a screeching halt in the next moment so I relish at this time the ability to do so knowing full well there is a time coming for me too. I am fortunate that this is the case and my thoughts continue to stray to all those less fortunate than me that face any number of difficulties and just wish to say I am thinking of you.

Sorry To Hear This
The Hombre is gone and that's just what he was in life too.
This movie is my favorite. Remember at the end when he walked down the stairs how he told the others what to expect from those who wanted to kill him. It's a bit like that now for us. If one thing doesn't get us and our country something else will.

Is Too Little, Too Late to End Debt Crisis;
Too Much, Too Soon for U.S. Bond Markets
Weiss Research Submits Policy
Recommendations to Congress Today
JUPITER, FL, September 24, 2008 — The proposal before Congress for a $700 billion financial industry bailout will not only fail to end the massive U.S. debt crisis but could actually aggravate the crisis by driving up interest rates, according to a white paper submitted to Congress and banking regulators today by Weiss Research, Inc. Therefore, Weiss recommends limiting and reducing the bailout as much as possible, while bolstering existing safety nets for consumers.
Based on recently released FDIC and Federal Reserve data, Weiss Research finds that:
1. 1,479 U.S. banks and 158 U.S. thrifts are at risk of failure, with total assets of $3.2 trillion, or 41 times the assets of banks on the FDIC's list of troubled institutions.
2. Among those with $5 billion or more in assets, 61 banks and 25 thrifts are heavily exposed to nonperforming mortgages.
3. The bailouts announced and proposed to date, although expected to cost over $1 trillion, are too small to rescue most institutions at risk, let alone address multiple problems with U.S. interest-bearing debts outstanding of $51 trillion and derivatives held by U.S. banks of $180 trillion.
Martin D. Weiss, president of Weiss Research, comments: "There should be no illusion that the $700 billion estimate proposed by the Administration will be enough to end the crisis. Nor should there be any false hopes that the market for U.S. government securities can absorb the additional burden of a $700 billion bailout without putting major upward pressure on U.S. interest rates, aggravating the very debt crisis that the government is seeking to alleviate." Among its policy recommendations, Weiss urges Congress to:
1. Severely limit the government's authority to buy bad private-sector debts by requiring it to pay strictly fair market value, including a substantial discount that reflects their poor liquidity.
2. Disclose to the public that there are significant risks in the financial system that the government is not able to address.
3. Focus more resources on strengthening existing safety nets, including FDIC insurance of bank deposits, SIPC coverage of brokerage accounts and state guarantee associations that cover insurance policies.
"Rather than focusing on the protection of imprudent institutions and speculators," concludes Weiss, "Congress should do more to protect prudent individuals and savers."
Regardless of what Congress decides, Weiss recommends that individuals continue to invest and save prudently, seeking the safest havens for their money, such as safe banks and U.S. Treasury bills or equivalent.

Organic Farming And The New Farm Bill
The bill offers farmers as much as $20,000 a year to cover the cost of converting their farms to organic agriculture. For organic farmers, controlling weeds often means keeping rows cultivated — which can be hard to do when the fields are too soggy for a tractor — or torching the weeds with a propane burner. At one point this summer, Albers hired 30 people to cut weeds. "If you're just in it for the money, you're probably not going to survive," he said. "It's a lot more work."There are actually a number of incentives in this bill to promote organic farming or at least get those interested started. Provisions that offset the costs of doing so.
The key though is in the last sentence where this it states "it's a lot more work". That alone is enough to shy farmers away from this. You have to actually perform manual weed removal at times and it's been years since that's been done. I've done it a bunch and it is very demanding. Nobody wants to do this anymore not when you can get the job done with chemicals.

Two US Soldiers Killed By Another in Iraq
This post showed the last fourteen US troops killed in Iraq were classified as non-hostile.
Two of those shot by another soldier are

Staff Sgt. Darris J. Dawson, 24, of Pensacola, Fla
Given seven of the fourteen died when their helicopter crashed but these two did not. It must be a real sonofabitch over there and I cannot even imagine what life for these soldiers is like. We all know we must leave Iraq now and the reality is that it is not going to happen anytime soon for damn sure. We are in a world of shit and we haven't seen nothing yet. LTFO!

People Are Making Changes
I am moving at the end of the month. A good bud is leaving for the last time this morning taking 16% less than the asking price for his house but it did sell. Another here hopes to close next week for 20% less. A life long friend is moving also at the end of the month into a friends house along with another. All three have recently lost their jobs.
I think this is happening all over the country. Changes brought on by corruption and greed forced on many who don't necessarily deserve it. Mine is part of that but intend for it to have more positives in the end. I am one of the luckier ones.
Got shit to do but headed down to the river at least for awhile as those trips to my favorite place of all will be limited in the future. Will find other places that will work instead plus it's time to explore other fisheries.

I'm at a loss for words because I'm so goddamned outraged! We must leave Iraq if there is to be any chance of some stability in our country and that includes getting the crazy bastards out of the power. I hope so hard but only when I see it will I believe it.

Sometimes Bigger Is Better
Gregory Paul Johnson, a founder of the Small House Society in Iowa City, Iowa, said that the notion of very small houses becoming popular was "an absurdity" five years agoI've lived in some small places. One was a 400 sq. ft. chicken coop but it had it all. The title of this post refers to something that just happened to me that I'll explain in a day or so.
As conditions deteriorate people (not the filthy rich ones) will not continue to build larger homes as each is a monument to the absurdity of our lifestyle which far too many think they're entitled to. That's changing very quickly and will never be the same.

I think our democracy is pretty much gone and we don't even know it. The next few weeks will determine that and more as I think the shit is really gonna hit the fan before then.
When a few take our country to war on lies and get away with it along with the help of the media rest assured these people will stop at nothing to keep power. They fear what ever little chance there is that in the future they may be held accountable for their actions and end up swinging like our old bud Saddam did. They deserve no less. LTFO!

It's No Different Than 70 Years Ago
WTF Is It Now gives a great example of this. It's propaganda pure and simple no more no less and it's not talked about enough. The Nazis were very successful with this technique as we all know.
It's been written here before that I believe key players in government have been threatened by the likes of those in this administration. I still believe that. Recently I equated the situation locally was similar to what had happened nationally one of the common denominators being the media which in this case is a newspaper. But what I want to get at is something else.
Maybe some of you have discussions with some of those on the other side but I do not partly because those situations do not occur and I guess I limit the chances of that happening. A conversation I had today with a friend is an example. Very simply friends who are visiting him are wing nuts. Poor guy and no matter what is said those on the other side never give an inch and are in lockstep with the talking points they hear on squawk boxes. On the other side I would not give an inch from my position from what I know and I know of no talking points at all that I could respond with.
So when situations like that arise I probably do what you do and present them with facts that are true. No Saddam was not responsible for 911 is an important fact known for a long long time even though for those that listen to media here the truth came a couple years late but it did come out. But yet something like 50% may be even more believe this shit to this day. In the end all your talking does not make a dent.
Locally it's identical. People believing for a fact things that have been disapproved a long time ago but continually tossed around as to the truth. And even when shown or told the real facts of these matters it makes no difference they still believe the falsehoods.
Brainwashing is another term and that is exactly what has been done and continues to be done to our society. When there is a concerted effort by government and the media to change the truth into something other on all sorts of issues and there are at least 50% of citizens who believe the lie the powers to be have been successful.
We are in a world of shit and this upcoming election is pivotal. It is a key moment in the history of this country and I fear the groundwork being laid puts the success rate of winning this election in severe jeopardy. Look the fuck out.

A cousin of mine with whom I am very tight is facing a move also by the end of the month. He is doing so for monetary reasons plus lack of a job with bleak prospects of getting one. Both of us have been affected by this criminal administration. There are millions and millions in this country who face worse things than we do. You bastards!
Enough work the weather cleared off so I'm going out to see if I can catch a fish.

It's late to answer five questions from Liberality who tagged me. I'll think about these questions during the day tomorrow and get right on it after I get home. Answers may be boring but it will be fun too. Where's the lipstick?
1. Where was I ten years ago?
Right here same place same job that I've had for the last 18 years. I never imagined that I would be here for so long and I hate winter but it's just that seasonal aspect that I like about my job. Balls to the wall during the season but laid back in the winter. When I moved here one of the first people I met who also dislikes winter told me the rest of the year makes up for it and she was correct. So many perfect days filled with fishing golf and other fun things to do with geography and panoramas that never grow old. That is changing a bit now because just tonight I signed a contract and put down earnest money and purchased a trailer in Steamboat Springs something that I was able to pay cash for. Some of you know I had been struggling with the purchase of this house for a number of reasons. Have never carried debt of any kind and now is not the time to do so. I think I can be happy in my new place and actually have quite a bit of privacy with a large back yard with the Yampa river just out my back door. Unfortunately I'm slightly depressed because this decision was influenced by the results of a morally corrupt administration that has ripped this country apart for the last eight years. Combined with equally disgusting local issues enough was enough. Don't misunderstand I'm so lucky to have the lifestyle that I have but almost everybody living in this country has been negatively affected by these people and I am one of the lucky ones definitely.
10 years ago in partnership bought some property south of Pueblo that was paid for in May of this year and that's cool in these times. We saved this old house with a five-year weekend effort of extremely hard work and it was worth it. For me 130 trips 280 miles one way. I hope to live there some time in the future.
2. What was on my To Do list today.
One important thing and that was to go inspect the trailer that I just signed a contract on and make the decision whether I was going to purchase it or not. It has been raining as it was this morning then cleared off through the middle of the day and then rained hard several times later in the afternoon but I was able to accomplish this.
And like Liberality blog. While at work I can accomplish a lot and do better when there's more to do because then it becomes important and it's my job. After that I'm pretty lazy unlike many people who keep busy with constructive things or hobbies. I gotta work like a sonofabitch to sit on my ass as much as I do.
3. What would I do if I were a billionaire?
One thing for sure I would be more of a consumer and for damn sure I wouldn't develop problems like those lotto winners. I think things would be just fine. I would take care of people who are close to me and others that deserve a break or have really good ideas but can go nowhere with them. Support candidates for office that share my views. Probably have a few more toys and get myself off the grid. I would not build a giant house and I sure as hell would not continue to work like others who come into large sums of funds. I would not have a problem with keeping myself occupied in a positive fun way.
What I would do would be to purchase a Westphalia type vehicle and travel here in the states but in West Africa primarily equipped with hundreds of soccer balls to give to the kids along the way and assist villages and cooperatives formed locally if applicable. A little bit of money goes a long way in places like this around the world. I'd get a kick out of stuff like that.

My Very Short 911 Story
On that morning seven years ago Bradley came into the shop and told me what happened. I went over to the chump house(pro shop) and watched for a short period of time and said in a very loud voice for the several dozen there to hear clearly "there go our rights" and walked out.
Looking back it seems a bit odd but I just knew. Called my long time PC buddy and we talked about what we had said for years that something like this was bound to happen and it did that morning. This event was not a surprise to us.
Finished out the work day turning the radio on only a couple times for unending speculation that served no purpose. Went fishing for six hours on a beautiful day in the Rockies catching so many it was easy to not think about what was to come.
Sat down in front of the tube at 9 o'clock and watched the nightmare that continues to unfold to this very day.

Who Would Have Thunk
Someone today will be the 10,000th visitor to this site. Whoever that might be and to all the other 9,999 a huge THANK YOU for that! It is a wee bit humbling considering the 16th of this month is one year for the counter.
Initially this site was an experiment that was not all that successful and had become very boring gradually evolving to what it is now. It was so interesting as I learned the different things that could be done by visiting other places and realizing how you can reach out and touch so many others here and around the globe. That's just way too cool but it is the internets you know something our current prez and maybe the next know squat about. That makes me smarter than them which isn't saying a hell of a lot.
This post hit the counter jackpot big time and continues to take hits on a daily basis. It sure wasn't because of superb writing skills or the content of the post but of the person referenced which was the reason for the post. It also proved very quickly the local fish wrapper was just that as they reported one of the parties in the article linked to was Russian but the first day when so many hits came from Bulgaria a quick phone call proved this party was Bulgarian. That gives OTC more credibility than the fish wrapper.
I get a kick outta shit like this because it allows me to include things that are fun for me in addition to items that I feel are important or just the regular old rants. Sometimes it's good sometimes it's bad. But I try on a daily basis to put up something that hopefully is interesting.
I have made up my mind that fairly soon there will be a change in my life as I have decided to move from here after almost 18 years. I've grown weary of this place and many who live here with their small minds who are unable to grasp reality of the world around them because for what ever reason they feel they are entitled to do what ever they want without respecting other members of the community. There is something seriously wrong here and One Fly wants no more of it.
When this move happens it will probably be by the end of October. I will be a busy boy and there will not be much happening here. It will be a positive change as I look forward to to be removed from the constant bickering complaining and conflict that many thrive on here. Stick your soap opera up your ass people. When the door is hitting me in the ass on the way out of town that will be a good day.

Initially this site was an experiment that was not all that successful and had become very boring gradually evolving to what it is now. It was so interesting as I learned the different things that could be done by visiting other places and realizing how you can reach out and touch so many others here and around the globe. That's just way too cool but it is the internets you know something our current prez and maybe the next know squat about. That makes me smarter than them which isn't saying a hell of a lot.
This post hit the counter jackpot big time and continues to take hits on a daily basis. It sure wasn't because of superb writing skills or the content of the post but of the person referenced which was the reason for the post. It also proved very quickly the local fish wrapper was just that as they reported one of the parties in the article linked to was Russian but the first day when so many hits came from Bulgaria a quick phone call proved this party was Bulgarian. That gives OTC more credibility than the fish wrapper.
I get a kick outta shit like this because it allows me to include things that are fun for me in addition to items that I feel are important or just the regular old rants. Sometimes it's good sometimes it's bad. But I try on a daily basis to put up something that hopefully is interesting.
I have made up my mind that fairly soon there will be a change in my life as I have decided to move from here after almost 18 years. I've grown weary of this place and many who live here with their small minds who are unable to grasp reality of the world around them because for what ever reason they feel they are entitled to do what ever they want without respecting other members of the community. There is something seriously wrong here and One Fly wants no more of it.
When this move happens it will probably be by the end of October. I will be a busy boy and there will not be much happening here. It will be a positive change as I look forward to to be removed from the constant bickering complaining and conflict that many thrive on here. Stick your soap opera up your ass people. When the door is hitting me in the ass on the way out of town that will be a good day.
Thank you again to the ones that come and visit on a regular basis and to all those who pop in too. Seriously I have made more good friends here than I have made living in this place for what has become too long a time. Giv'em hell!

Little One Fly's Religion Story
Some of my earliest memories are having to bundle up in the middle of winter freezing my ass off during the twelve mile ride from outta the cornfield on gravel roads to our parish to attend mass. The time period is early 50's.
There was this short fat little Monsignor Monster wearing these elaborate and colorful robes who would scream at the top of his lungs how little One Fly was going to burn in the fires of hell for a variety of reasons all very bad of course. Rules made up a very long time ago influenced by this guy who could feed a lot of people by snapping his fingers. That's what they were telling me. Of course you're down 2 and 0 right out of the gate cause of that original sin we're all born with you know. I didn't do a goddamn thing I'm just a pecker head kid who got dragged to this place against my will. You want to impress me turn the fucking heat up. I'm still freezing my ass.
In all seriousness at that tender age tiny One Fly called bullshit as he does to this day. Since I was not in control I had to go through the motions for a long time and hated all of it for the most part. As a sidelight during these times One Fly was not a good participant while attending this ritual and misbehaved at least that's what the story is. Dad would be glaring at me and if I was really pissing him off mouth some words. When it was over and on the way to the car he would say "You're going to get it". And on the way back home on one of those gravel roads you never knew where, he'd stop the the car pull me out and give me a spanking. OUCHY WAWA.
I'm pretty sure it was deserved.
Then there's the Continuing Education/Brainwashing side. Leading up to the second biggy the first being Baptism you study and learn all that will make you eligible to receive your First Communion where you are fed one of these guys for the first time. This was always confusing to me. All who enter do win a prize and that is you get to tell all the bad things you have done according to them to one of the robed guys who sits behind a screened window. Can't see him but you can hear him. You've seen him around and he knows who you are. What the fuck do you think little boys do? How I hated this and you had to do it there was no choice. Told to say any number of various prayers and wa la all is otay. You will not burn in the fires of this place called hell and are free to start all over. There need to be laws protecting children from this. On Saturday's would go the other direction for an hour of instruction from penguins at another parish. You didn't even get a break during summer vacation cause there was two full weeks of all day indoctrination back at the other place. This shit was brutal for a kid in my position.
Continuing with education we moved off the cornfield and into town so there could some of the real thing at the Catholic school during the junior high years. Included in that were daily hands on indoctrination sessions with the resident robe. One Fly left a perfect learning environment and entered a classroom of utter chaos. There is one of of my grade schoolteachers left and when I see her she never fails to tell me that I was her best student. I love this woman. It was chaos and the penguins knew so little they actually had students teaching math and science. It took six months for me to be corrupted by this atmosphere and when it came time to enter high school I was not close to being prepared. Just was not strong enough as a person at that time to say no to what I was being subjected to.
It was during that time and for a couple years during high school that I entered the inner sanctum of the robes and became a server. That was kind of fun because you got to mess with all the toys these guys used. You had to light the candles which could be a pain in the ass, fire up the old incense burner, mumble a whole bunch of Latin bull shit, and then when it came time for communion followed the robe around with this fancy wooden handled plate just in case he dropped the guy he was feeding to everyone. Of course when one of your buds was at the rail you jammed that plate into his throat hoping he'd choke and sometimes he did. Then during the sermon you had a birds eye view of all in the audience. Who was asleep who was drooling on themselves and who was misbehaving stuff like that. Then there was holy week. Seven nonstop days of mumbo-jumbo pass all. I have never in my life seen the likes of what happens on Thursday night of that week. This is bizarre shit at the very least. One of the downsides of doing this is that you had to wear this cheap ass black and white floor length dress.
Quit doing the server stuff but during high school continuing education continued with a one night a week gathering for more of the same. For many it was a way to get out of the house or off the farm for a bit of screwing off on a school night. The more daring ones would use this opportunity to sneak a few brewskis before heading home.
This has been the whole truth and nothing but the truth and what is important to me is that they didn't get me. They will never get me and I feel for all the millions who have been gotten and right now it is the ones that have been gotten that are fucking our country up in such a way with a mind fucked agenda and beliefs that are so far removed from reality it difficult for me to put into words what exactly it is except for this is just sick sick shit!
And as another sidelight will add this and make no conclusions or offer much up other than it did happen. I just say that while in West Africa and I will use the word "a spirit" interacted with One Fly. Never saw it but heard it and felt it no bull shit. Maybe it didn't like white boys.

Events here locally are identical to what is and has happened on a national level. You have a few very vocal players who have been able to shape public opinion with innuendos falsehoods and lies. We know people believed the lies that got us into Iraq. Lies work quite nicely when used correctly no damn doubt about it. Then you reframe the issue into something else and wa-la there you have it.

Leadville Cemetery
Leadville is an old mining town with a rich history and equally interesting cemetery. The stories that could be told so wanted to share this unusual place because so many of the plots are surrounded by wrought iron fencing.

As a citizen of this country to watch what happens here pisses me off to the extreme. They were released but their only crime was that during the '04 RNC I-Witness Journalist's video got charges dropped for 400 people arrested because their video of the incidents did not match the officer's statement of the arrest. Well they came to the Twin Cities to protect once again a persons right to protest in a lawful manner. The orders to fuck with these people and many others came from DC and is an example of what will happen if ever large groups come together to do the same. Democracy Now! host Amy Goodman and producers Sharif Abdel Kouddous and Nicole Salazar have all been released from police custody in St. Paul following their illegal arrest by Minneapolis Police on Monday afternoon.

They are Sharif Abdel Kouddous and Nicole Salazar. Kouddous and Salazar were arrested while they carried out their journalistic duties in covering street demonstrations at the Republican National Convention.Democracy Now! is calling on all journalists and concerned citizens to call the office of Mayor Chris Coleman and the Ramsey County Jail and demand the immediate release of Goodman, Kouddous and Salazar. Update-redid the video that was on here and this isn't much better. There will be another taken from a different vantage point that I will put up when I get home. Have 300 to do so I'm outta here soon. Weather isn't all that good and hope to at least fish for a little while on the way back.
Since I arrived Friday afternoon it's been windy. Have not been doing any video because my desktop picture program is corrupt when it comes to manipulating videos. I'm at the ranch and am using the laptop. Told Busted I was going to put something up plus wanted to try this new camera. This is dark and poorly done and maybe early tomorrow before I leave if the wind isn't howling I'll get something better up.

noise . These are not very good but wanted to show some friends
the ranch. It's not really a ranch but it was at one time. The name
is actually Bender West. We saved this old house and it was over
five years of hard work and improvements continue.
This is taken from the back of our property. The two mountains
are the Spanish Peaks.
The mountain range in this are the Sangre de Christo's. On the
other side is the San Luis valley where the Great Sand Dunes
National Monument is located along with many UFO sightings
and cattle mutulations.
