Doctors have given a woman a new windpipe with tissue engineered from her own stem cells in what experts have hailed as a "milestone in medicine."
Hard to imagine what it will be like with an administration that actually believes in science. Bring it on.
Yes, think of all those who died needlessly because science was delayed. We are emerging out of a cave in more than one way.
ReplyDeleteWe're not out of the caves yet. From that article:
ReplyDeleteA team from the universities of Barcelona, Spain; Bristol, England; and Padua and Milan, Italy, decided instead to replace Castillo's lower trachea and bronchial tube to her left lung with a lab-grown airway.
No U.S. cities in that list. That's the danger, of course - we'll be left so far behind (irony intended) that we won't catch up for decades, even assuming we can ever get the batshit insane people who oppose stem cell research out of the way.
i thought that was pretty cool but I did not save the story. I like most expect some quick gains in this field with Obama at the helm but we will see what perverted right does!
ReplyDeleteI wonder just how far we are behind.
