John Paul II visited the small town of Mwanza, in northern Tanzania, and gave a speech that many believe set the tone for the Aids crisis in Africa. The Poop was unequivocal. He told his audience that condoms, then internationally accepted as the only real way to curtail the spread of the disease, especially in the developing world, were a sin in any circumstances. He lauded family values and praised fidelity and abstinence as the only true ways to combat the disease
The same message today Poop Benny the Rat words continue to carry the same message of death.
"It (AIDS) cannot be overcome by the distribution of condoms. On the contrary, they increase the problem,"
My head hurts too much to rant about this too much except to say I abhor these people and this Catholic dogma that sentences people to death because they believe what these men say. There is something seriously wrong with this church and the hierarchy behind it.
The Catholic church is only concerned with the propagation of their religion. They care not about the health of the people they are supposed to be 'serving', they only care about numbers.
ReplyDeleteIt's all a fucking game. The more people you draw into your 'faith' the more powerful and richer you become. And let's face it, for the Vatican it's all about the money.
". . .for the Vatican it's all about the money."
ReplyDeleteI agree, if you'll grant that "money equals power."
Look around you, jeg43, to the Vatican as well as the Rethuglicans and the radical christian right money IS power.
ReplyDeleteShit, man! I was agreeing. Not looking to get shot in the foot.
ReplyDeleteI was stunned by that! That is asinine unless they are sharing and reusing them. Ewww! I heard that but did not read it. I hope to hell he doesn't think he can push abstinence there!
ReplyDeleteSorry jeg43, didn't mean to shoot ya in the foot dude. I guess I just got a little wild with the gunfire. Once again, sorry.
ReplyDeleteAll better now. Thanks, Grandpa E.
ReplyDeleteYou're quite welcome, jeg43.
ReplyDeleteI knew somebody would pick up on this one. This one just stunned me.
ReplyDeleteI keep giving the Vatican the benefit of the doubt. Yeesh, stupid me.
I wish I could find the link for the PBS show that I saw a couple of years back with a brief interview of a woman in the slums of Brazil (blech) who when asked if the Pope was correct on his prohibition of birth control said, "The Pope doesn't live here" and gestured to her surroundings.
I hate to keep picking on the pope and his followers too much. In this case after looking at it there was no choice but to put something up.
ReplyDeleteSeriously-people have died from what the first guy said way back then in the 80's and even more will die because of Benny's latest remarks. Plus they help sustain this disease. People in third world country's will believe this shit. So I guess we're third world too. Look at what they believe here. Unacceptable at all levels.
