This is Bistek al la Mexicana a common dish found many places. There are several places I get this some better than others but all real decent! Kind of a tomato based sauce with generally pretty tender pieces of beef and a fair amount of it. The rice is pretty generic but the frijoles can be something else. This also includes as many fresh made in front of you tortillas you want and brought to you with a smile. Something like this costs around 50-60 pesos or $3. The squeezed as you watch orange juice is 20 and brings the price up a bit but worth it. Nothing in the States I've ever had compares to this not even close plus it'll cost 7-10 smacks. I don't know what I'm going to eat when I return. It will be an adjustment as I do this so much that is go into Puerto Vallarta on the south side and have me a excellent lunch with "real" Mexican food not the slop I get back there. I do not plan on eating out much at all only at maybe three select places. Pricey yes but worth it because it's so good. I threw away so much money last summer eating way overpriced shitty food. Several times the food got thrown away as well. The whole of Mexico is an eating machine I tell you. I'm gonna miss this.

I feel good and and think the higher temps and humidity contributes to that. It's the same every time. After a month or two you realize and say " Hey I feel pretty damn good!"

Just as important I believe the food made fresh with wholesome fresh ingredients as well contributes to that. Get off the bus in town the food smells everywhere make me hungry just like that.

Lies From The Local Fishwrapper

Shit like this is too much. Personally the fact that this cartoonist is a black man doesn't mean squat to me. He can be the Queen of Egypt for that matter and it still doesn't mean a thing.

Locally there has been over the years efforts to have this comic strip removed from the editorial page but they refuse to do so.

Let's understand that by no means am I even close to being satisfied with what our new president has done or is doing and for now won't even go to the Congress side of things as it's still too early in the morning to get pissed off.

What in the hell is wrong with these people that put such a racist cartoon in their paper? But more importantly in this cartoon is the thought that the president of the United States wants to kill elderly people. I don't think it's a stretch to say that but that's the underlying message of this and that is a blatant lie. Just like the crazy bastards in Grand Junction last weekend-one of the phrases they were chanting was "kill the bill" with the underlying message there being these nutters wish to see harm come to people who support this bill and this president.

I despise this local paper and fight them on a continual basis for the bullshit they include on a daily basis. And this is for a readership of maybe 10,000. Compound this nationally and it's very easy to understand why our society is so damn stupid and believes the lies that they do.

We are so screwed!

  1. Usually small town newspapers are owed by a bigger entity, with scores of small town newspapers in their portfolio. Might not be the case in your town, but it sure is in mine.

  2. I do not see racism, per se. Any caricature of Obama would include the features the cartoonist included.

What is distressing and deplorable is that the cartoon plays on discredited lies.

That's not racism. Just plain, old artisan dishonesty.

  4. What I see is we have people on tee vee lieing, folks in gov't not telling the truth for the sake of personal grandizement and reelection, people led by the nose ring of personal enrichment and all of the things that the ten commandment tells us not to do. For as much as the religious whatever folks ascribe to they are being led by all of these politicians who break any given commandment every day.

Look, I'm not a religious person due to my suspicion of being controlled yet when you read the ten commandments and understand what they say and live by them all of this would not be going on!

Now! If these people would just stop the ef'n lieing and their [elected officials] attraction to greed.

  5. Man you know I agree! They will not stop until they cause their revolution. That is sick! That Black with the gun that was mouthing off saying we will use these to save our country was no joke, It gets closer every day but they are going to be sadly disappointed.

  6. Thanks friend and I will attempt to be a bit more tolerant and not jump to such quick conclusions about some things.

One thing for sure is we sure as hell know how to recognize lies.

  7. Lies are like a snowball made of wet snow, rolling down a hill, growing bigger and bigger as it continues towards the bottom.

There is a point when it encounters the wall of reality and honesty.

  8. I agree with One Fly. The damn cartoon appeals directly to the racist element of the republican party - and that's about all of them.
