A nutter candidate so full of fucking nonsense won. Did you see and understand the way the contest was framed by the media as a make or break type referendum on the left as a whole.
Do you think there will be a decent HCB if one is passed and the answer was always going to be the same Kennedy/Mass/Election aside. Forget it you're not going to get one and never were and even if you do it will not be good.
Will there be any accountability ever? Fuck no it was never going to happen.
Is there reason to think we may lose Social Security. You double damn well betcha there is.
Will common sense prevail and we end the War on Drugs? Never fucking ever in our lifetime is that going to happen.
Will young minds continue to be brainwashed with untruths printed in our schools text books. Count on it.
Will politically active church's lose their tax exemption? Dumb question.
Will the defense budget shrink to meet the needs here in the homeland. HA!
Will we win in Afghanistan? Double HA!
Will there be any meaningful quality progressive legislation we need so badly passed by this congress besides the HCB. No way but the next congress will do a hell of a job passing plenty of nutter dogma.
How many more do you want because it doesn't make any difference the answer most of the time is going to be no. That's it - that's the reality get used to it. All the fucking hope in the world will not change a thing.
This country has profoundly changed in the last few years but this last year has seen this happen very rapidly. This battle is almost lost. The Comcast merger is big but it's Net Neutrality that will be about the last nail in the coffin. and I fully expect the corporations to win the battle for the Internet.
The loss of the Senate seat in Massachusetts is just the beginning of many more. When you lie cheat and steal plus have the media on your side it's much easier to win plus when the other side fights real nice like the dims do well ----.
Get used to it.
Great blog, I like your style. LOL. I will be back.
ReplyDeleteSad, but oh so very true. You nailed it One Fly.
ReplyDeleteGot you on my blogroll.
ReplyDeleteAll is not lost, One Fly. I found my " I Like Ike " button buried underneath my Merit Badges from Boy Scouts. I especially like the Able To Tie Oneself In Knots badge.
ReplyDeleteDamn, evil wins.
ReplyDeleteWe think alike One Fly. You're obviously a man of character and conscience.
ReplyDeleteOf all the voters in any election, the most flip-floppy, namby pamby, quivering butt-hole, bed-wetting voters are the, so-called, independents. Both parties have their hard-core supporters, but it's that minority which decides elections. This month they like it, next month they don't. They put their trust in Obama in 2008, he didn't deliver, which is true, so they jump back to the Republicans. The teabaggers are claiming victory for their candidate, but really it was the swing vote that was the difference maker. It doesn't look good.
ReplyDeleteFly, I agree with you, but instead of saying all is lost, I say fight for change.
ReplyDeleteBased on the timing, my guess is that if Coakley had said she was against the Nelson Amendment to the health care bill, she might have won. Coakley was doing very well before the anti-abortion language was added and she then said she still supported the bill. Of course, the rest of the Senate HC bill sucked, too, and she was in support. The fall after that was precipitous - more than twenty points in three weeks. Turnout was lower in traditionally Democratic areas, despite some big last-minute GOTV efforts.
ReplyDeleteThere were plenty of other mistakes, and they didn't help, but I suspect that was what did her in.
Lisa G. thanks for stopping by and please come back. I agree with Jack J. about you blogging and I agree. I saw your response but still it's like you don't have to do it daily but you have thoughts that can contribute and that is needed plus we'd all help you get you around and that's half the battle. Think about it.
ReplyDeleteThank you for that Truth and I will be over shortly!!
Holte you always say a mouthful and no it don't look good at all and it very well become very bleak for us out here as the year goes along if the dims do not pull their deeply buried heads out of their asses soon.
TC I'm not stopping the fight just yet or saying other should but want our side to understand that if changes are not made soon the right will clean house in November. And if they do that will be enough for me probably to say enough and think about other things instead of things that will not change. I do believe there is much more devious action going on behind the scenes that shape this and have posted on that but most don't go there with me only a few.
I don't doubt what you say for a second Cujo. I'd like to see these people say and base their actions on what's good for us and our country not what is best for them and the corporations and let the chips fall where they may. Easier said than done I know but respect and integrity goes a long way.
I had better comments for everyone but lost it and had to do this over and I'm a slow typist.
All of you thanks for your thoughts on this which is basically about the future of this country and decisions that need to be made that are not being addressed properly by those we put in office to do just that.
