This weekend went for a long overdue visit to see a very good long time bud and his family. He works for a water district and his/their job is water quality.
This district is one of the very first that returns waste water that reaches the headwaters of the mighty Colorado River which is very close. There are amounts of bad stuff allowed by law that water districts all over this country are allowed to put back in.
This district takes a very different position on this and puts absolutely nothing back in. The water is purer or just as pure as when it started out before going down the drain or sewer.
Their philosophy is that they want to be the example of that if all along the line who discharge back into the river (there are many) put these numbers back that are allowed that way down towards the end of the line there would be issues because of the shear accumulation of numbers. The EPA determines most of these numbers.
Can you imagine what it would be like if government did not take part in this process and there was no oversight by government like repuglicans want.
It's crazy that this position is given even a moment of possible credibility but yet that's how stupid we are as a nation.
