This article does not get a link does not deserve a link and if it could I would tell it to fuck off and die.
Since the invasion of Iraq up until now have you ever seen an article about troop increases anywhere in the world that did not happen? Of course not because when it comes to war laying the groundwork is of the utmost importance to prepare the masses for more of the same.
The Pentagon fears that Obama may not be on board with this but of course that won't be the case because drama sells newspapers. In the end the Democrats will be patting their good friends on the other side of the aisle on their fat little asses because after all we're all in this together. This is war ya know.
So when they get their 45,000 more troops that will put the number around 100,000 and that doesn't count the contractors and mercenaries that are in Afghanistan and still in Iraq.
I cannot tell you how much I despise those elected officials that call themselves Democrats who continue to fund this war machine when they've been elected specifically twice now get out of there.
All the bitching and moaning, preaching to the choir, calling or what have you has not changed one thing in the last eight years or so and nothing is going to change now.
But you do what a dog will do and that is try.
A friend of mine's husband is working as a contractor in Afghanistan. Before retiring from the military, he spent some time in Iraq. He got out last year and helped his wife and children on their organic farm while looking for a job. He couldn't find a job and his daughter was planning on going to college so he up and volunteered and accepted a job as one of the "making friends with the Afghans" contractor. I wish him a safe return.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the sentiments of your post, OTC. The Obama adminisration must extract themselves from both Iraq and Afganistan for economic, ie, budgetary reasons. Unfortunately, not the right reasons morally but us war protestors will take what we can get. However, don't be shocked when the two-faced Repugs say the Dems are "cut and runners", weak on nat'l security and cowards who can't be trusted to defend America. Just sayin', this is all a setup for 2010 and beyond to regain power: which is all the Repugs want anyway. Again, good post OTC.
ReplyDeleteThe politicians won't decide when to bring a close to Iraq/Afghanistan, the American people will, when casualty rates start getting so high, that it actually starts to disgust and horrify people. Unless Obama makes a decision that will break his presidency and bring everybody home. I hope he makes that decision.
ReplyDeletetell it brother! I know the last two election cycles the democrats pledged to end the war and have not and will not unless forced to.
ReplyDeleteThanks friends!
ReplyDeleteWe did what we were supposed to do within the system to stop these things. We put enough in office for those specific purposes but no these slugs continued on the dark side.
What the hell do you do besides revolt which will not happen.
A good friend of mine, Valérie, insisted that I come check your blog, saying I'd like what I'd see - especially regarding this fucking Afghanistan war bullshit.
ReplyDeleteI do (like it).
As a European (+ Australian), I am totally disgusted that we (British and French) are still there with our fucking armies. What the fuck is going on?
I have to say I and most Europeans are very disappointed of Obama's choice to move his army from Iraq to Afghanistan. What the hell are we all doing there? Still looking for Bin fucking Ladden, lol? Hey, the dude is probably in Tahiti lying on a beach sipping pina coladas.
It is all the more disappointing because when Obama won the election, the wave of euphoria all across Europe, all the way to Russia was overwhelming - and yet, what is it to us? We only cared because it was a symbol, but I wonder how much the symbol is not simply a myth.
Don't get me wrong: all of us are still glad asshole Bush's finally gone (pity he's not in The Hague international court for crimes against humanity though), but Obama's starting to disappoint us some.
Good point that we have forgot about how the rest of the world felt after the election. Maybe many have become numb there as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks Why Not for visiting. I have been over to yours and later will spend a bunch more time. I've seen some great pictures. Thanks to as well.
Now Gates is saying this is a great war to be in and in the end there will be just as many as there were in Irak just watch! The UK as well has been taking way too many deaths there as well. We have absolutely no control over a fucking thing and the nutter love every fucking bit of it.
We are so screwed!
