In response to me opening my mouth I now have to produce on the idea that after deep thought with a friend we may have figured out why these people are the way they are and are not open to discussion or rational thought.
Why do people choose to believe obvious lies? Pro Wrestling-the Limbos and all the other sources of disinformation not to mention the invisible sky being fear factor that complicates this even more. I have never been able to understand that. They just want to believe so badly.
Said for a long time somewhat in jest that it could be a gene thing but something is obviously going on. Do think it can be compared to the man/women thing but do not mean they are necessarily connected. Comedians make their living off the differences between the sexes and it's not changing and no one can explain it for certain.
This is a bad case of imprinting going on here. Filial imprinting it seems is the type. But all of you knew that. Not me but I get to use the cornfield defense.
I think I have to back away from using the term brainwashing as the rhetoric today is more or less what these individuals imprinted on. Call it reinforcement conditioning. It's working whatever it may be.
No matter what - these people don't get a pass for being dumb fuckers never ever and right now it seems to me they are winning.
The fact these people are given such a dominate amount of time from the media shows the depth of the shit hole the Big Whore Media has crawled into.
Congressman Frank was correct in that the only way to fight these people is public ridicule as TehStupid deserves nothing more.
I have to reserve the right to add to this. Time to go to work.
Have fun today everybody!
Hey. I think this is spot-on! Pity you have to go to work today, this could be worth a discussion. I notice five other posters agreed with me about not a fucking atheist in the bunch. They're BELIEVERS, OneFly. Not thinkers. Not critics. Not cynics. Believers. And they'll believe whatever comes out of the mouth of whoever they pick as their Daddy figure.
ReplyDeleteMark Crispin Miller wrote the book I'm reading now and he lets us inside their heads. If they weren't so destructive you might pity them.
ReplyDeleteBuzzflash interview with author.
Thanks PCat you have been a good friend! And no pity cuz I'm working on my own shit and it was my decision to buy this place but it's coming to an end and we got a bunch done and onto other shit now. Tomorrow think we're headed to Dinosaur National Monument and get down on the valley floor where the Yampa & Green converge. So it will be work on Monday here but there's the 4th stage of a bicycle race on city sreets with many classed riders one of which is a good friend and after yesterday I think is 12th and at 45 that ain't bad. He's linked to here and his site is Abandon Your Car. I want to watch a bit of that.
ReplyDeleteBack to this other thing. What ever this phenomenon is one thing for sure is that it's dramatic in it's scope and effect. This has always been around but not as far reaching as it is at this time and certainly not losing steam.
Can anyone think what would have happened in years past if parents said they weren't going to let their kids listen to the prez. They would have maybe been labeled as commies. And now our prez elected by a giant margin is the evil one and they literally believe enough in this to do harm to others.
I don't think people who believe in things that are not true and when shown they are wrong in their belief still believe the falsehood can ever change. Maybe a dramatic life experience could do it like living or experiencing a few lies but that can't happen at the scale needed.
Gotta fun to the lumber yard-later OF
The lazy way is to let someone else think for you. Eventually they'll have you believing all kinds of stupid shit. All they have to do is entertain you.
ReplyDeleteI think that what is being displayed on teevee and written about in the media needs to be separated. Teevee is covering the accidents and flames of the health care debate, yet print media is putting forth a concerted effort on their part to influence the debate in favor of the health care industry's big money makers. That is not to say that teevee has done the American public any favors when it comes to explaining all of the labels regarding public option co-ops, single payer and the like. In a way they have done Obama a favor by allowing a wild swing the arms in any direction fight over health care reform and keeps the masses confused and uninformed while all the while looking like they are doing something. This whole whirling dervish of HCR has most Americans really unsure of what is good and what is bad because they are greatly uninformed and the Republicans have done their part to capitalize on everyone's ignorance.
ReplyDeleteHere's the deal, there is not a politician in this country who believes reelection is possible being on the wrong side of this debate.
Oh! Onefly I mailed Barack an extra ace to put up his sleeve. Hey he's from Chicago. Well maybe.
Read "True Believer" or Nazi writings about utilizing the dissaffected, the angry, the ignorant to create mass movements. Hell, watch the movie "The Oxbow Incident" and see what the mob and vigilantism are fueled by. Obama has done what ruined the Clinton Adm: in his first actions he comforted the comfortable, ie the bankers and investment houses. He surrrounded himself with "the money boys" and gave away trillions, borrowed from the middle class, to further add insult to injury. The health reform has been a bust so far because the gave the filthy rich insurance companies and pharma the biggest slice of the pie at the getgo. Nutters may never change or wise up but Obama has added to the cynicism immensely. At the most famous pub in Portland now hangs a sign, seen by thousands of tourists in Portland monthly: it says "Where's my Bailout?" The MSM is tough to overcome, nutters also, but this anger at Obama and the Dems is self- inflicted because in the end you still can't have it both ways and Americans may be dumb but they still smell hypocricy and "the hustle" pretty well. Oh, by the way, I hear the war in Iraq is going to end any year now. Peace and Rest on Labor Day weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhat is a Nutter?
ReplyDeletemaybe you could publish an otc dictionary, so those who are virgins to OTC can understand what you are trying to say!
ReplyDeleteI have done nothing but ridicule them for at least 10 years now. To their faces, behind their backs, on the blog.... anywhere. I'm not even going to try to have a serious discussion with a Randiot, when the Randiot's ideas have been proven unworkable to the point of stupid, over and over again.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I'm not convinced that genetics isn't at least part of the answer. Every place the Rushpubliscums dominate, you'll find lax laws on inbreeding.
