This happens a lot back in the cornfield because there are massive numbers of hogs everywhere and they produce massive amounts of waste.
The manure then ran over the field and into Otter Creek, causing a fish kill along almost four miles of stream about a half-mile south of the Minnesota state line.
Luckily yesterday there were no pig shit spills where I was and it was another pretty damn decent day of fall fishing on the Colorado.

Some beauties on a beautiful weekend. Unfortunately, Iowa which means "beautiful land", has destroyed its' environment to cater to national food processors. Yesterday I was lucky to attend an event celebrating organic, sustainable and environmentally sound practises. The people were great, the music was awesome, the food fresh and colorful presentations were drowl-inducing and best of all the vibe was very positive. The people and food reminded me of Iowa when I was a child living with and working with family farmers. The eternal question remains the same, "What has been gained and what has been lost?" The answer is all too clear, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteI golfed in Nebraska a couple of years ago. When my sister-in-law asked how I like the course I told her that they add something here... odor! There was a pig farm next to the course. You need a gas mask to play it.
ReplyDeleteThere was some wind and clouds but it was a bit chilly at first and nothing was happening. Sun came out and in a matter of a minute or two it began to reel a bit humid and bam just like that caught the first one.
