1:54 a.m. ////////// Police Department officers were called to a report of a drunken pedestrian in the 3600 block of Lincoln Avenue. A man apparently was intoxicated and passed out on the porch of a woman’s cabin. Police talked to the man and gave him a courtesy ride to his home on Morgan Court.
2:11 a.m. Police and ///////// Fire Rescue emergency responders talked to a drunken pedestrian at Fifth Street and Lincoln Avenue. The pedestrian reportedly vomited when officers attempted to take him to detox, so he was instead taken to Yampa Valley Medical Center. At about 4:30 a.m., officers drove the man to his home on Merritt Street.
Don't give a shit this is wrong to enable behavior like this that happens on a daily basis some days worse than others.
I say this because a year ago a decorated soldier died on main street and alcohol was part of it.
There is a 17 year old girl in a coma with alcohol involved.
Could go on and on and it's disgusting given this is a town of 10,000.
Bring it up in the local fish wrapper forums and you'll be censured like I was never to be able to post again. Fuck 'em!
Used to live in a small town where the tax collector would stop in for a couple of beers after work. Sometimes he had too much (combined with his meds). In that condition he never got above 20 mph so he wasn't damaged when the cops pulled him out of the ditch and gave him a ride home. Until one night he hit a pole just right and put the west side of town in the dark. They still gave him a ride home but we didn't see much of him after that.
ReplyDeleteSo what are the cops supposed to do? Just let the drunks drive home, in cars, where they can hit and kill people? Or put drunks in a jail cell that could be used for real criminals?
ReplyDeleteOr maybe you think a cop can stop a drunk from being a drunk. The fact of the matter is that there ain't shit a cop can do that'll stop a drunk from being a drunk. A drunk has to damn well decide for himself that he's going to stop being a drunk, go to some sort of program or some shit, before he'll stop being a drunk. Until then? What ya want the cops to do, shoot the drunks or some shit like that?

No need to be so baffled. These are walkers not drivers. Yea - detox where they have to pay a bit to make sure they don't die until they sober up.
ReplyDeleteOnce again - the number of deaths associated with alcohol in this area given the population is disgusting.
And yes Tux I have a big problem when people die on main street over drunk talk.
I don't think any of the things you think I do. No where in this post did I give that impression.
Once again as a resident who has seen and witnessed so much negativity because of people who abuse alcohol and the police in my opinion continue to enable this behavior I called bull shit on that and do so again!
