This is Bistek al la Mexicana a common dish found many places. There are several places I get this some better than others but all real decent! Kind of a tomato based sauce with generally pretty tender pieces of beef and a fair amount of it. The rice is pretty generic but the frijoles can be something else. This also includes as many fresh made in front of you tortillas you want and brought to you with a smile. Something like this costs around 50-60 pesos or $3. The squeezed as you watch orange juice is 20 and brings the price up a bit but worth it. Nothing in the States I've ever had compares to this not even close plus it'll cost 7-10 smacks. I don't know what I'm going to eat when I return. It will be an adjustment as I do this so much that is go into Puerto Vallarta on the south side and have me a excellent lunch with "real" Mexican food not the slop I get back there. I do not plan on eating out much at all only at maybe three select places. Pricey yes but worth it because it's so good. I threw away so much money last summer eating way overpriced shitty food. Several times the food got thrown away as well. The whole of Mexico is an eating machine I tell you. I'm gonna miss this.

I feel good and and think the higher temps and humidity contributes to that. It's the same every time. After a month or two you realize and say " Hey I feel pretty damn good!"

Just as important I believe the food made fresh with wholesome fresh ingredients as well contributes to that. Get off the bus in town the food smells everywhere make me hungry just like that.

Will You Still Vote For Grassley

You may have seen this.

Rumors became reality this weekend in Webster City and Jefferson, whose residents will now weigh how to carry on after appliance manufacturer Electrolux winds down operations and takes 850 jobs with it by 2011.

Maybe these union people didn't vote for Grassley. I don't have the answer for that. The comments on this different places from what I've seen blame the union. Just like here where an impending strike at the grocery stores the union is being blamed. My question is this to the extended family members back in the cornfield.

When close relatives face the possibility of dieing because they have lost their health insurance will you vote for Grassley again who has what you could have had but he's not going to let you have it.

Well are you thinking - well are ya dummy?

  1. The wise elders of this community (think Local Chamber of Commerce) are usually the culprits behind union-bashing when these things happen in small communities. I remember when IBP crushed the unions in the late 70's & early 80's by simultaneously "locking out" and recruiting scabs from the old South: Mississippi and Alabama, etc. They took middle class wages ($16-18hr pus bennies) and replaced them with ($10hr no bennies) single men with no ties to the community. It was a disaster economically as the local service industries collapsed. It was a disaster as crime rates and drug abuse skyrocketed ripping apart tight-knit communities developed over generations. It happened in Storm Lake, Cherokee, Ft. Dodge, Spencer and dozens more towns in Iowa. But the "Wise Elders" always supported the Corporations over their own neighbors. They said the same bullshit, " We have no other options. Theyre going to kill our town if we don't let them bust the unions." Of course the towns died simply because the corporations were able to divide and conquer the town using its own "leading citizens". If this sounds familar it's because its' still being done today in America, especially in our nations capital. Blame the victim; like blaming women for being raped or the sick for not having insurance. The Corporations do it because it stll works very well. What this country needs to do is to crush the " wise elders" like McCain and Hatch and Blanche Lincoln and Mary Landrieu. Replace them with Progressives and clean up our country. Of course, this will happen when pigs fly into the the slaughterhouse of their own volition and cut their own throats. God I love living in a Corporitocracy (Fascist) state and watch the villagers eat their own.

  3. Some of them could be my Uncle Saul DCap. Different but you still try to get along.

Doing that ano devastated those towns and they remain that way to this day.

There has to be a price to pay for carrying a dim label and then act like a repug.
